Find a forum, peek around for a while to get the feel of the conversation and join in. At the bottom of each posting it says

'reply'

Click on that and you will get a little box to post your comment.
You can click on a profile, and if that person is online and have not shut off the instant messenger option, you can click on that and invite someone to 'chat' privately
