Dying Embers
The leaves have fallen baring my empty soul stripped of the color that once made me whole my season has passed no longer shall I bloom standing naked in the night dark feelings of gloom the rope hangs still too frigid to swing pleasant memories shared of summer and spring alone and abandoned I stood my guard my sap stained tears hit upon the ground hard ignored and forgotten never to leave this place warming fires and giving breath to an uncaring human race I am feeling the blades tearing through my bark no more oxygen to give my world has gone dark hitting the ground with a crash and a thump my legacy remains in the form of a stump many will recall the bliss I gave as they walk past my earthen grave....... I attribute this also to a man who is dying and reflecting on the love he gave his family, in the nursing homes there are many men who never get a visit from their children, see if you can see the comparison, and with that being said, this holiday season take it upon yourself to visit those who have paved the way for your very existence......Tis the season to be jolly, pass it on! |

Our forests of elderly people, who scattered their seedlings in order for our future to be better then what they lived, left to wilt and wither alone in the holiday season, breaks my heart...I see it too often in the Nursing home I work in... Awesome write...

I cannot respond to the place this resides
in my heart, except to say, this is very personal and understood. Thank you |
