I knew a girl who turned me down
when I asked her on a date. But she's dead. And I write free-verse poetry. Commonly referred to as the better of the bargain. I see people living lives. Defined. Some might even really want things. But I long for a reality that escapes touch. Rejection is direct. Real. I do not want to want to want. If the dead could write free-verse poetry mine would still be better. It would really just make me look less weird. Dead like dawn, the now lost rising like the sun but only towards a memory. Briefly sustainable. Barely tried to sustain. Anymore. They say I'll scream enough to wake the dead. All I wonder is if that happens will the dead have anything to say back? Will they ask me where the party store is? Or if I like free-verse poetry? |
