I think that acronyms are way overused. It happens at work all the time. People use acronyms so much that not everyone knows what they mean anymore.
Yesterday, I found out about a new one people are supposedly using. Yolo. Really? You need an acronym to say "you only live once?" Do you like acronyms? Do you hate them? What are some you think are overused? |

I hate when people expect you to know what they mean, not common ones, but ones they seem to be the only ones who are using it.

They don't bother me much lifes too short to let the little idiosyncracies bother me......I would rather enjoy life with a smile rather than frown over mediocrity

At least half of all words in the English langauge (or any other language) started out as acronyms.
F.U... etc, snob, panties, tylenol, TV, MM, (Marilyn Monroe), OK, iPod, DDT, nylon, punk, HDTV, tank, etc. etc., and many more which we can't even be aware they started out as acronyms, like, for instance, the word "acronym". It stood for "acropolis nymphomaniac", and the meaning had a shift not just the spelling. BP oil, Esso oil, Shell oil, bombs, BS, ABBA, INXS, knit, n.s.f., N.A., D.A., etc. etc. (And also ETC itself.) |

haha I have no idea, just trying to read 'spidercmb' and interpret it. 'Spidercomb' is all that would fit for missing vowels. Someone else told me it was 'spiderclimb'.. ..I am sensing neither is right? |

Someone else told me it was 'spiderclimb'.. ..I am sensing neither is right? No, they are not. SpiderCMB is my first email address ever and was created nearly 20 years ago. The acronym was much more topical, though not relevant to me, back then. I'll just keep the acronym to myself, as it would take a lot of explaining for anyone to understand why I chose it. |
