It is not a cloud
nor a mist that hovers
veiling the clarity
of what is seen.

For the energy to take in
another breath
in succession
has always been fleeting at best.

What sight can be undone?
Where can a vista be moved?
Who has the authority to abandon
this grace?

To we who are left behind
a stillness, a tear, a stream of grief
will find residence
even if only momentary.
