Well after about 10 years out of it I have been placed back in the dating pool...
I have to admit. I'm lost. So many sites. So many profiles. No clue as how to fill mine out... Any tips for where to start? Oh and by the way.. <sleazy voice> heellloo ladies...

Uh, one thing that will help is to get another picture on your profile that does NOT show your wedding ring.

Try copying the photo in some type of picture editor, crop it, save as a jpeg, and then upload it again. Keep the rest of the picture because you have a great smile.
