About youngasyoufeel
As my “handle” (youngasyoufeel) suggests, I find the fact that I am 66 years old pretty much irrelevant. The number of years one has lived is only a romantic problem if you think it is. (Re photos: The one where I am in black is current; overlooking the Potomac, about four years ago; one in white jacket, about six years ago. You can't hold back time, but I hope I'm aging reasonably gracefully.)
Originally from the Midwest, I lived for 25 years in a small town in southwestern Virginia before moving to DC in 1995. Until recently director of communications at a trade association, I am currently looking for another job. In the meantime, I’m keeping myself occupied watching movies, reading, walking, visiting art exhibits, going to festivals, attending lectures, and writing. Writing is my ruling passion, both professionally and personally. I have a master’s degree in fiction writing, have published a novella, a play and a dozen or so short stories, and am currently working on my fifth novella.
I have a good sense of humor and always prefer the truth to a lie. My friends tell me that I’m compassionate, loyal, generous and never boring. “Christian-Other” means that I have a daily practice of “centering prayer”—a form of Christian meditation. I am pretty much apolitical—despite an undergraduate degree in Political Science—but am willing to discuss political issues as long as everyone involved in the conversation is civilized about it, i.e., respectful of other opinions. I am not especially “athletic,” but do enjoy walking and mild yoga.
I'd like to meet someone down-to-earth, easygoing and compassionate, who enjoys life and doesn't take himself to seriously. Your profession and hobbies matter less to me than who you are as a human being.
