The problem with these things is I don't really know what to say about myself, so I hope you will ask some questions. For now, I'd like to start with taking a wonderful lady out to dinner (or maybe I'll make us up a picnic if the weather's nice) and spend the evening sharing some stories. Of course I'm not against making that a lunch and afternoon of stories.

My ability to tell stories and make a joke out of any situation is both a blessing and a curse. Not all my stories have happy endings, and I'll take some jokes too far for all but the most daring of individuals. Most of my friends know that while I might make light of any situation, there isn't anything (short of treason) that I wouldn't do for them.

I live in one of the quietest, and most beautiful corners of Kansas. I have walked out my door to have deer, and various other animals standing right in my front yard. Half the time they don't even care that I'm standing there, I had to coax a young doe to leave my garden one afternoon, I think I walked within twenty yards of it before it finally decided to leave.

Someone once asked me what I wanted in a woman, my response "cookies, and the promise of more cookies." The rational, my grandparents were married for 65 years, and I cannot think of a single time grandma didn't have homemade cookies in the house.

Once again ask me anything, I'll give you an honest answer, sometimes brutally honest. And as I say to everyone, don't ask me anything you don't really want to know, because once it's out there, I'll tell you exactly what I think.

Answer to common question, no I do not have horses or cattle, I needed those hay bales to stop water runoff in the road ditch north of the house.

Other than that, I had to choose an "interested in:", so I chose activity partner. I had to think about that one, while my end goal would be relationship or marriage, either one of those is going to have to start with dating or friendship, and the best way to really get to know new people is by just doing something with them. Any of the above answers in essence would be fine, except maybe intimate encounter. I just am not prepared (mentally) for that kind of "friendship," and in all honesty, I'm not that kind of guy. Sorry if you ladies are disappointed, take it up with my mom, she taught us different.

I quit smoking cigarettes in Aug. 2008, so I have switched smoking to "no". I've actually been doing really well and haven't had the urge to actually buy any. Oh, I want to smoke, I just don't want to have to go to the convenience store. I think it's this kind of laziness that will help me complete the task. I'm also honest enough to remove this paragraph and move the slider back to "Often" or "Constantly," should the need arise.

Much to the other side of things, the drinking says "occasionally" and those occasions are done with moderation. Generally I'll try the signature drink at dinner theater, just one, and have a drink to be social at a few annual meetings I attend. The reason I say this, if you bring a six pack (or more) home nightly, you can stop reading and move on to the next profile right now.


Few things I'm looking for:

Someone that will require me to steal some covers back at 3 AM

Someone that will take me to an art fair

Someone that will make me go to a jazz festival

Someone that enjoys dinner theater (I have season tickets)

Someone who will sit next to me on the couch, or on my lap in an easy chair

Someone that wants hugs more than once a day

While drinking coffee isn't a must, patience with my "coffee grindings" is

Someone that can deal with my "rural mentality" (country wisdom?)

I want someone whose hand will be there for me every time I reach for it

Someone that will laugh at least at one of my bad jokes each day, even though it's only obscurely funny

Someone who will finally make me get a passport and use it

Someone to answer back when I say, or even say the same to me for that matter, "Honey, I'm home." Don't know why, I think it's from watching too many early seventies tv shows with Mom and Dad.

Those were a handful, I'll add more when I think of some.
