About litecol2000

Recently retired Military Officer (Special Forces) with over 20 plus years. " Be all that you can be....and then some". Whew. I'm looking forward to relaxing and enjoying life to its fullest, with some precaution, of course. I love to go camping in the High Sierra's, fishing, scuba and sky dive and most outdoor activities. I really enjoy cooking, especially gourmet style. Most people say that they enjoy a 'walk on the beach'...not I. I hate the beach. I've stormed too many of them while in the military. How about a hike or a walk? Lunch at T.G.I. Friday's ? Camping in the mountains? A visit to a nice seafood restaurant...my treat. A 'Starbucks' ? The Mall? The Library..? As far as knowing what I want in life, as so many profiles state while looking for Mr. Right, I can say that I know what I wanted and how I got it. Now I am enjoying the fruits of my labor, so to say.
I enjoy humor of all kinds from the morbid and mundane, to slapstick. I am a practical joker, so watch out. I love to travel and have been around the world and visited most places except China, Japan, some European countries. I also enjoy summer sunrises and sunsets out in the open desert and mountains, or an occasional rainy day, while warming up to a fireplace, a mug of hot chocolate and maybe a warm body next to me. Desirable but not essential, though. I presume that I've been living alone too long and need to wake up and 'smell the roses' as they say.
But I have to say that I have been on one of the most adventuresome journeys that mortal man can ever be on. Yes....I was married before. The Agony of it all. I use to wake up Grumpy, now, I let "Her" sleep. They say that love is 'Grand'..but, 'Divorce is $50 grand. Aah, yes...DIVORCE...from the latin word meaning, ..'to rip a man's genitals apart through his wallet'. Actually, we parted due to an illness. She got 'sick' of me. I was in the military and too often, I was never home. I don't blame her, but...I don't think I'll ever get married again. I'll just find a woman I don't like and give her a house. Don't misinterpret my meaning, by thinking that I am against marriage. As the old adage goes, 'Once bitten, twice shy' leads me to have misgivings about that wonderful "Bliss" that most couples enjoy. I had a somewhat dreadful divorce while still in the military and I stayed in my career, so that when I retired, we could have something to fall back on. Now that 'I am' retired from the military, with a great retirement package, "She" wants to enter my world, again. Sorry Charlie. No way. So, if I sound a little skeptical about committment, you can understand my feelings. Of course, meeting that "Special" someone could and might change my outlook on life and the possiblity of taking that 'step' again. It's not carved in stone and I've learned never to say 'never'.
Anyway, I will leave you with these words of wisdom once uttered to me by a wise mystic and sage by the name of "Confused" ( or was that Confucius...?) " We jog in a jogging suit...We lounge in lounging PJ's...We smoke in a smoking jacket...so why on Earth would we want to wear a "Wind Breaker"?
