About silverfox009
About me:
Well, let's see. I suppose that I should start at the beginning. I am from Wisconsin, spent over two decades there. Nice place to grow up, if a little boring sometimes. But then, good friends can be found anywhere. I became very interested in video games, which should explain the way I am now.
I am a gamer who has also done game testing professionally. After graduating from UW Madison with a BA in English I moved out here to Washington state to work for Nintendo. Easily the best job of my life. The work was fun and that's where I met all of my new friends out here. Nintendo is a social hub of sorts for gamers like me.
My current ambition is to be a great game designer. According to my plan, I'll be ready for it after my current contract ends. I do software testing at the moment, not too exciting, but not as bad as it sounds. I get to work with something like Tivo which means that I get to watch free premium movie channels, pay-per-view and on-demand all day long. Alas, my passion is still in the game industry.
I'm good at what I do, but I am always looking for the next step in regard to self-improvement. I like to organize my thoughts, preferably in lists these days so that I don't forget. I suppose that my memory is still a work in progress, heheh. Personal fitness relates to this, so I intend to keep getting buff and healthy.
I place a high value on friendship, maintaining old relationships and strengthening new ones. I am always eager to help my friends, such as passing along job opportunities and advice. I am fairly social for a gamer. Admittedly, I wasn't always this way, but I have taken great strides to get away from hardcore online gaming and just relax and enjoy life, see what I've been missing. I go to a lot of parties these days. I also enjoy hiking around mountains and Seattle. I'm more of a free spirit who likes to do his own thing rather than have schedules.
Obviously, I enjoy games. Books are also a great passion of mine, hence the English degree. I am proud of having an entire wall of bookshelves. TV is fine, movies are great. I like to go see movies when they are still in theaters. Snowboarding, haven't done that in a while, but I'll need to hit Whistler for that sometime. Heck, I might even do some camping since I like the climate and environment of the Northwest so much. I prefer it to Wisconsin, actually. We don't have many mountains and really nice forests there, heheh.
I don't smoke or do drugs. Never tried 'em, but have no desire to trash my body over curiosity. What other people do is their own business. I have plenty of friends who smoke or do drugs. As long as people don't do it in my face or in my place, no worries. Alcohol, I stayed away from for a long time. Didn't actually try it until a couple years back. Can't say that I care for it much, but I do drink occasionally, and when I do, it's just girly drinks. Yup, I get a lot of playful flack for that but it all adds to the hilariousness that is me.
Humor is extremely important to me. It cheers me up when I am down. Humor is my morphine; it's my addiction and my painkiller. It's saved my life more times than I can count. I enjoy it in many forms, from clever satire to sheer stupidity. You'll see this reflected in person, but it generally never comes through in my writing. I've never been able to force it; it just comes to me and then I let it go and move on to the next joke. Man, I need to get out there to some more comedy shows too.
I do love it out here though. A very nice place to live. I have partial ownership of a spacious condo with all the decor and entertainment that I could ever want. I do a lot of contract work these days but for high pay. There is no sign of the work stopping and my faithful Subaru is still alive and kicking. There is always room for improvement, but with all of my friends, even the ones spread across other areas of the country, I am fairly content at this stage in my life.
I’d like to meet:
I like adventurous people. I like to try new things and it's fun when other people try new things with me. This generally comes in the form of new and/or strange foods, but I try new things in many other ways. Thus, I find open-minded people interesting.
I also consider myself quite intelligent. I've received far too much evidence over the years to ever believe anything to the contrary and I appreciate others with a similar level of intelligence. Not to say that all of my conversations are a journey into the depths of human consciousness or the nature of universe and existence because most of them are just funny, relaxed, and often somewhat stupid. In fact, I'll gravitate toward the stupid and funny topic 9 times out of 10, but it's important that the capacity is there.
I am a generous person. I help my friends when I can, usually at no cost to myself other than my time, but the effort shows. Kindness is appreciated since I've known quite a few cruel people over the course of my life.
A confident, positive attitude is desired in my companions. I'll always help friends when they are feeling down, but when it comes to someone I barely know, I do not feel obligated to try to fix them.
Honest communication, it'd be nice if everything believed in it. If you see a problem, tell someone about it. It doesn't need to be embarrassing, just constructive.
Independence is a great thing. I've known plenty of people who are too needy. I get sick of it after a while.
People who know their priorities and goals are on the right track. I know mine, for the most part, anyway. I'm at a time in my life where self-improvement is very important and my needs come first before anyone else. I have a plan and I am sticking to it.
A sense of humor, as indicated above, is very important. I don't get along with people who are missing a funny bone.
Not to say that I specifically require all of my friends to possess every characteristic, but it's nice when I can find people with all of these things.
