Your tax dollars at work ... destroying your grandchildren's future
This article is about what most would consider a trivial matter. One that most probably would not even give a second thought to. But such trivial matters can be great illustrations about the internal workings of your government. First a brief background statement. The vast majority of Americans believe that English is our official language! The money that our government spends comes from the American taxpayers or is borrowed and will come from the American taxpayers grandchildren. Now very few would disagree with those two statements. Even the politically correct can not dispute these two simple facts. So lets take a look at a current news article concerning two counties in Florida; Orange and Osceola. The article is in the box below and announces that your federal government lawsuit and intrusion into the local elections board is being settled. Now most at this point would say, "So what?" But lets look at this situation in light of the two background statements listed above. The vast majority of Americans believe that English is our official language! If English is our official language, and all voters are American citizens, why is Spanish or any other language assistance needed at the polls? Why are we letting people gain citizenship status if they do have the basic skills needed to be citizens without special assistance? Now when you say "So What?" you are simply admitting that your government is ignoring the will of the vast majority of Americans who want English to be our official language. When you just dismiss actions where the obvious will of the people is ignored, you are dismissing the very foundation of American Liberty. Yes this is what many would call a trivial matter, but such trivial matters are becoming more frequent and will grow in significance. The money that our government spends comes from the American taxpayers or is borrowed and will come from the American taxpayers grandchildren. At a time when your federal government is running massive deficits and State and local governments are struggling with their budgets, there is plenty of money to deal with this so called trivial matter. How your government spends your money is a clear demonstration of what your government places the priority on. So in looking at the potential uses of your tax dollars and the debt being passed on to your grandchildren - what priority do you place on spending money to force Spanish assistance in the precincts of Orange and Osceola counties in Florida? I would be willing to bet that such expenditures would rate pretty low on your priority list! Somewhere just above or below bottom. But your federal government has made this a priority and of course had no concern for any budget burdens placed on the State or local budgets. So in effect your federal government made a decision for the budget authority of both Orange and Osceola counties in Florida. What all this means is that your federal government is operating on partisan political agendas with both your and your grandchildren's money. Further it does so with impunity and absolute disregard for the opinions of its citizens, very few of which would have authorized either this action or the expenditures. We were given many warnings by our Founding Fathers on the price we would have pay to maintain the American Liberty that they created. Even 50 years ago such an action and expenditure would not have happened. Why is it happening, with very little comment or concern today? This example is just one of many. But with every one we lose a small piece of our Founding Principles and accept another elevation of partisan politics over the well being of American citizens. Email This page Published Friday, February 4, 2005 Federal oversight ends for Orange, Osceola over 2000 election The Associated Press ORLANDO, Fla. Orange and Osceola counties were informed they are no longer under the oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice for possible voting rights violations during the 2000 election. Both counties had been operating under Justice Department mandates since 2002, when the department threatened to sue after finding they had not provided enough help to non-English speaking voters in 2000. The Justice Department is confident the necessary progress was being made, officials said in paperwork that let the deals expire Monday. Voting Section Chief Joseph Rich noted that Osceola has further to go to provide equal service in Spanish and English but lauded Orange as "a model and guide" for other counties. The counties were told to add more bilingual poll workers and to make sure election information is in Spanish and English. Orange and Osceola have sizable Hispanic populations, with Osceola being nearly one-third Hispanic. Bilingual poll workers increased in Osceola from 70 in 2000 to 226 in November's election, according to the paperwork, according to the Justice Department. The 223 percent jump was surpassed by Orange's 233 percent increase to 513 bilingual workers in 2004. Osceola elections supervisor Donna Bryant said she wants to increase those numbers and have more outreach in Spanish-language media. Hispanic activists said they were disappointed to see the mandates expire for fear that progress would stop. Armando Ramirez, a former vice chairman of Osceola's Democratic Party, admitted that the 2004 elections were "much, much better" than the 2000 contest. But he said he thinks Bryant, a fellow Democrat, took the action only because of the federal threat. "They were under the gun and begrudgingly follo! wed the order," Ramirez said. "I don't trust that it will continue." Both counties settled voting rights lawsuits filed after the 2000 election, when civil rights groups complained of voter disenfranchisement. --- Information from: The Orlando Sentinel, |

Thanks for that Miguel. I agree with you 100%. Open the borders! Why should we expect people to have the desire to change the sh*t hole they came from when it is so much easier to capitalize on the success of others? Welcome! At least you are out of that sh*t hole eh? Keep moving north. The Canadians have it much better than we do.

What is the problem with english as the official language?
I won't bore you with the details. Here is a wiki list of countries with an official language. Check the South American countries. Interesting how your country has an official language but we shouldn't? See if you can find a SA country missing from the list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_official_languages

That is neither here nor there. The fact of the matter is if the majority of countries have an official language, what is the problem with the US having English as ours?
