The Grizzlies are safe for the time being but the Polar bears are not. I don't know what man can do to preserve their habitat. It's a matter of them not having a long enough winter. The ice melts sooner every year and at an ever increasing pace.
They don't get to eat enough seals and end up in the garbage dumps around the communities in the area. It's a sad situation but there aren't any easy answers.

No...it is not going to be easy. Humans will have to give up things that they are not going to be happy to do. Fixing things is a very good possibility. But, will we? What will we let go? I have changed much. There is still much more I can do. Change is hard, but it can be done. I just have to set my mind to it.

Yes, our planet is alive. We are just guest life forms in her arms. She's trying to shake us up now. She will most definately heal without us. And other life forms will thrive, and carry on nicely without the likes of humans. Cleaner, greener, bluer, calmer.

which co -existed with the indigenous Australians for thousands of centuries prior to european settlers.

This countries european history is not evena dot on this country's timeline...and yet in just over three hundred yaers we've screwed up the natural order and balance...we are accountable, and I defy any to disprove me..

Thanks Jess. I think I'm just totally frustrated by my own ignorance on this subject of WHAT do I do to help make it better rather than being a part of the problem.

Three years ago, I bought a house. I'd been looking into different types of energy for heating and electricity and water sources and all that good stuff. Say hello to frustration station.

Corn heaters/stoves - put crap in the ozone as bad if not worse than the natural gas in use now. Wind power seemed a great idea. The town I live in will not ALLOW it. As illegal as it sounds to me, any other town in the County I live in can use that style energy. It's more expensive, but yes, it is available. Needless to say, when given the opportunity to sell my house, I gladly took it.

How much crap is getting put out by the process of recycling plastic water bottles? This I have not found out yet.

I agree harry, but rather than use a different test case, and get caught up in the usual hair splitting that goes on....this country has scientific evidence of it's age of the Indigenous occupants...and also the natural order...

There is also scientific evidence to support what I am on about here...the rapid extinction of so many vast and unique, and incredibly fragile species, both flora and fauna....traced specifically to european sttlers as the causative.

conscious awareness of your own personal space...insulating, wearing warmer clothing indoors...turning down the thermostat....cooking in the evening, closing off rooms that you are not using...heat only the space you are in...it isn't hard, to start with the small details.

Wear lighter clothes, and catch the breeze in summer open up the house and become accustomed to surroundings, rather than run for the air con..

we have neither heating nor cooling...we live in the elements as they are, and acclimatise to them.

I was in no way trying to dismiss Australia's unique scenario.

Did you know that if every house would change just one bulb in their house to one of those energy saver ones that we could light up a billion houses in one year with the extra energy?
Quit using plastic bottles, we would save billions of gallons of water? (just from NOT making them) Gas up in the evening, saves the vapors from being sucked into the atmosphere? Mowing in the evening also saves the planet energies. There is sooo much more that we can do to save ourselves.
Get your bills online and save paper bills...saves a million trees?
