I have moved to Pennsylvania and it still lists my local forum as North Carolina.

Green Bay vs. New England (but I would not be shocked to see them upset next week)

I have a feeling the NFC Championship will be played on the Frozen Tundra! (or at least I can hope!)

Go Packers!

^ I agree. I work in government myself and often it seems it is easier for people to simply bash or blame government than look for the answer and yes there are times when government is to blame and acted wrongly. But very few issues can be fixed with a magic wand and instantly be better and it is difficult to convey that at times.

As a Packers fan I would hope to see my Packers there. As for the AFC I guess the smart money is on New England but I would not be shocked to see an upset for them.

I think if anything history shows it is difficult to keep the White House after two terms. I feel right now there is a major political shift occurring in each party as well as in the nation as a whole. For the past 25 years we have seen for the most part a Republican upswing; but patterns and trends change and it looks like it is time for a Democratic upswing now.

For sure I was amazed with some of the numbers he put up. The fact that CUSA has three players of that caliber at running back says a lot for the talent we have.

I will take the hype in terms of money and bowl tie ins at this point. But you are right I think often players are looked down on if they are not from a major conference when there is a ton of talent out there. Kevin Smith of UCF and Chris Johnson of ECU put together two of the better seasons in a long time for running backs in the nation. In the first half Boise State had no answer for Johnson at all.

^ GO PIRATES!

I would say in terms of talent perhaps not but since the Big East is in the BCS it is an advantage for all of their programs. In many ways if you are not in a BCS conference there is the feeling you are on the outside looking in.

Yeah I am a ECU grad here myself but I would love nothing more than for us to get into the Big East down the road.

I would say with Hawaii losing the way they did, and then Boise State losing to ECU it looks like the MAC or CUSA might actually be better overall than the WAC.

Isolationist does not mean a lack of trade or diplomacy but little to nothing in terms of international agreements. Even when we had a more isolationist foreign policy in this nation we still had trade with other nations as well as kept up international relations. But Paul advocates the cutting off of foreign aid, little in the way of trade agreements (open all markets to the free market) so it is more than just a military side to this. He is not a full isolationist hence why I said almost but he is very close to one on a number of issues.

Paul was the Libertarian Party candidate for president before and still has a strong following among libertarians. Essentially his point is the government should stay out of social issues, limited involvement in the economy, and almost an isolationist foreign policy. While it does not seem to agree with what one would think a Republican stands for it is in line with many libertarian voters who traditionally voted for Republicans if they were to vote for a major party candidate. But in recent years Republicans have advocated positions that are not popular with many libertarians including Paul (Patriot Act, the War, wire tapping) so it is not a surprise that Paul is raising money and making some news in the race.

I say that not was a libertarian or a Republican but I do find Paul and his campaign quite interesting in terms of the 2008 field and also in view of the direction of the Republican Party.

If anything Ron Paul as an independent would take away more libertarian leaning votes that tend to go to the Republicans.
