You're on the right track River but that's not the whole of it. I was working on sharing an experience from my past for a historian I had met on here. After only a couple of installments it became too much for her but I continued to write it as I was learning a great deal by doing so. This last Friday I was chatting with an institutionalized person who wanted to read it to see how I could possibly understand her on so deep of a level. As soon as I sent what I had the site went nuts. I could read my mails but not respond, then I started getting "mobile verification" notes. Not easy to do when you don't have a cell. I posted a couple of requests in the forums and sent several notes to site admin. Finally that evening I got a reply saying I had been cleared as a spammer" ??? Oh well, so what I knew that already. When I was able to contact her the first thing she wrights is "something weird happened" She could only open my mails in her browser, not in the app. Her phone had started acting up, not just here on mingle but all across every one of her social networks too. When we got done discussing this I found the nudge function would no longer work for her. I posted a bug report but have still been unable to use that function with her. Works with anyone else, just not with her.

That's kind of what I decided. I don't know if whatever it was was looking out for her or me or just trying to interfere for it's own reasons but I have stopped writing her. I figured if she wanted to talk more she'd have to find a way to do it.

Perhaps you're not meant to communicate with her winking

Often times when there's interference, there's a reason for it and at times it could be for the greater good.... Other times it's just a bug in the system that needs to be worked out. Only happening with her though I would consider that a sign to stop trying to communicate with her.

I have a scientific world view and that means there is a simple explanation for everything. For example, we've always had thunder and lightning on his planet but only recently understood what it is and how it occurs. That understanding led to knowledge of electricity - and look at what we can do now, using that phenomenon!

No doubt in the future what we currently see as unexplained phenomena will turn out to have a simple and well understood explanation. If only I could find a way to live for several hundred years I would probably understand some more of these things before the end of my days.

Sad to say I cannot contribute any personal experiences to this thread, only the thought that you get what you expect. Thus other scientific types I have known and worked with have never told me about experiences of this sort, only people who I would describe as 'susceptible'. That is certainly not intended to be a slur on such people, it's just the most correct English word I can think of, so please don't be offended!

No offence taken, just FYI, both my brothers and I turned down invitations to join MENSA.

It sounds more like you're dealing with poltergeists

I don't see it like that. I think it's someone who has passed and doing these things to get my attention or letting me know that they are there. It doesn't frighten me whereas poltergeist activity can be a malevolent action and would definitely scare me

I don't mean to use poltergeist to mean it has negative intentions, just to mean that it's a manifestation of something / someone outside of what we think of as the normal world.

I believe what you're talking about are spiritual gifts... abilities to tap into a higher level of consciousness. For you it's the gift of tongues/or knowledge

Others are able to see into the future... a seer/or prophesier
Others are natural healers
Wisdom, and connecting with the spirits are some of the other spiritual gifts.

Am I correct?

Yes, I'm a healer also, I have an ability to interact with those deemed insane by the "normal" community and solve their problems allowing them to get out of institutions / hospitals etc. Once my "gift of tongues" got me a 6 month stay in a locked ward, but an amazing amount of "hopeless" cases did leave that facility while I was there.

It sounds more like you're dealing with poltergeists, that wasn't the type of experiences I was referring to. Here's a tiny example. I had gone to Houston to visit one of my brothers. His girlfriend joined us for a night of running around. We returned to his house late at night but he wanted to go back out later to a place that opened at 2 am called the last concert. I was having a conversation with his girlfriend Susan, telling her that I had enjoyed our evening but was tired and we should get back together in the morning after I had had some sleep. Ken interrupted with "What's going on?" Susan explained that I was tired and wanted to go to bed. Ken asked why he didn't get that. Susan told him that our conversation had been in German (she had studied dance in Germany). Ken looks at me and says "I didn't know he spoke German". Guess what, I didn't know that either.

So you just started speaking German without having really learned? That's interesting. There have been times when a knowing just came to me without knowing how it came about because before that I knew nothing about it.

Yes, and that's not the only time I've had conversations in languages that I don't speak.

The gift of tongue... Cool!

It could be if I had control of it. I don't.

Mmm. I've had a couple of things happen to me in the last month but nothing that's frightening.

I moved into this house 6 months ago and in the past few weeks unexplained things have happened. The first thing that happened was the doorbell ringing on different occasions when there's no one at the door. From where I sit in the living room I can see my front door and on each occasion no one was there. I put it down to a faulty connection. A week or so later, at night, the security light at the front door came on a few times on different nights. Each time it happened, I went to the door to find no one there. Not so strange, but the fact was the security light switch was in the off position! The last thing to have happened was about a week ago. I was sitting in the living room and heard something and decided to see what caused the noise of a thud I heard. I have a fruit/vegetable stand in a corner of my kitchen and when I entered the kitchen there was a pear on the kitchen floor next to my fridge. To explain, the pears were in a deep fruit bowl and had no way of falling out. It would have had to have been lifted out and thrown for it to have landed over 3 feet away next to the fridge.

I live alone so couldn't be anyone else doing these things.

Sounds really cool Delightful... have you tried communicating with the spirit?

I always acknowledge it when things happen. My daughter has had things happen in her house almost on a weekly basis far weirder than I have. She's okay with it too. She sends me daily pics and videos of my grandchildren's shenanigans and more often than not there's orbs in the pics and videos. We're both going to a spiritual fayre next week so hopefully we'll find out more happy

Sounds exciting.

Back in 2001 I visited a lady's home and she took me into her spiritual room. After we entered the room the door closed on it's own and I felt a presence. Then I felt what seemed to be hands touching my legs. She said he was friendly and just liked to touch women's legs, lol.

This stuff has always fascinated me and I've had quite a few experiences, just not the kind you've experienced where things get moved. I've seen someone standing in the room with me when there wasn't really anyone there. Mostly it's just sensing a presence... both good and bad.

Ooh.....not sure I'd like someone touching me laugh

When I was married I had a ton of stuff happen and my daughter and I often used to see a shadow going from my bedroom into hers (our bedrooms were opposite each other) which we all witnessed. And this reminds me of 2 times in that house where I felt someone sit on the bed. I felt the mattress move as if a weight was on it but on both occasions I was too scared to look :eyes:. That still frightens me when I think about it.

Still sounds like poltergeist, I've had those type of visitations too. One time I was setting around with a buddy and I was a purple blob (sorry not much other way to describe it, kind of like a tall pile of purple mashed potatoes) standing in the corner. I asked him if he saw "that" he answered "A purple blob?" His dog yelped, tucked it's tail and ran from the room to hide under his living room couch.

Thanks for all the helpful (and not so helpful) advice.
Nature Lady, I'll keep you in mind. I have / had some Briggle, not sure if I sold it all or not but it does still show up at the auctions around here and unless a family member or 2 is bidding on a keepsake it sells for cheap.
Serious question (for the girls, sorry guys, I'm not looking for a a submarine attack), if I were to actually use the IQ line in my profile, wouldn't you see it as off putting?

Yes I would see it as off putting. Once I've gotten to know and understand your humor it might come across differently and be funny.

That was my thought too. Thanks for the honesty.

I have had (and continue to have) many experiences in my life that can't be explained by natural means and would be interested in sharing / trading those types of things with someone that wouldn't freak out or dismiss the unexplainable as BS.
Warning, I'n talking about serious s#!*, not joking around. If you're afraid of monsters in the closet DO NOT RESPOND!!

Just found this thread perusing the forums after posting a bug report. You guys are a bowl of granola, any room for another nut? When I get "what you really looking for?" (original topic) I just answer (honestly) I'm looking for a hot, young, rich, nymphomaniac that's really into taking care of old guys.
Most of the replies come back "Okay, I'h here for serious too". The few that don't fit that category can provide some interesting conversation.

Around the World
What's called Danish modern does look a bit like the IKEA stuff, but that's just a small part of Mid Century Modern

I have bought and sold quite a bit of mid century modern furniture over the years. It's still available in this area for very reasonable prices as the local population doesn't see it as collectible, just mom and dad's old stuff.

Thank you for the advice, I'll work on it. I come from a family of emotionally crippled egg heads and am trying to break the tradition of being so clinical and any direction is greatly appreciated. I don't have any way to photograph myself except in stills but I'll see what I can come up with for that too.
