Peter Pan, Great Value brands yanked by ConAgra after cases in 39 states

Updated: 17 minutes ago
OMAHA, Neb. - ConAgra Foods Inc. told consumers to discard certain jars
of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter after the spread was linked
to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened almost 300 people nationwide.

Lids of jars with a product code beginning “2111” can be returned to
ConAgra for a refund, the company said.

I just don't understand; green onions, spinach, carrot juice, and the
list goes on. Never in my entire life can I remember ever gettng sick
from food, well, maybe crabmeat a couple of times. When we were kids,
we weren't nearly as clean as we are today, in fact, that may be the
problem. We use so much antibacterial stuff, we've sterilized our
immune systems into extinction. The Gov. wasn't even that strict about
food handling. Before recently, I'd never heard of e-coli, botulism.

When I first read this, I called my Daughter immediately. She only buys
Jiff Peanut Butter. Then guess who found a jar of the poison peanut
butter in his cupboard this morning. Duh, guess I should look at home
first.

I have JIF in the refrigerator and none unopened jars in the pantry.
Whew! I usually DO have some extra. My pantry is running a bit low as
all the snow here has kept us in for sometime.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I will stick my JIF brand from now on
too!
