What he said was wrong, but this stuff gets so blown out of
proportion. The media needs to give it a frigging rest, there are a hell
of a lot more important things to deal with.

I think they need to let it go. He is a comedian and spares no one! He
has said the same thing about the girls of the WNBA some five years ago.
Not to mention he is a has been and about to go away all by himself! If
we are going to clean up Imus what about all these rap dogs? there are
more important things to do. It must be a slow news day.

Imus has been p@#$$ng people off for 30 years so what it's a comedy show
if ya don't like it change the station, the whole world has gotten a
little too PC. If anyone should be scrutinizes in this mess how about
Sharpton and Jackson whipping up yet another media frezy to get thier
faces on TV. Just MHO

I live deep in LADY VOLS TERRITORY. I was elated to see the team win
once again this year. Rutger players were some proud little sisters who
had the opportunity and earned their spot to play in those finals. What
IMUS DID was beyond bigotry. He was a racist and that remark of the
rutger players being "Ruff lookin hos....thems some nappy headed HOS" is
that funny or comedy? LORD HAVE MERCY NO! IMUS deserves to be fired and
sued by each and every woman player on that team. He might have thought
he was being funny but I found absolutely NOTHING funny about that
racist remark. NBC giving him 2 weeks suspension is a joke. They should
rethink this and FIRE HIS RACIST BUTT. JMHO!!mad mad mad explode

ScottyBravo...shugar you know i adore you BUT right here in my own
personal life with my son coming home at his tender age hearing him call
me a nigger ***** and "daddy says your a nigger mommy" just goes to show
that racism is not going away. I deal with this every other weekend. My
child and his autism with a remark that his own FATHER has taught him
could later on in middle school or high school get him stabbed, beaten
or killed at school. Racism is wrong and it makes me want to not only
vomit but literally has my blood boiling with his dad. SHAME ON ANYONE
for racism or bigotry. That is one of the biggest reasons i left that
man. I refuse to live my life being a color. flowerforyou

Everybody blows things out of proportion, But in this day and age,
Someone in his position should know better. Never liked him.
But honestly, Blacks call whites things all the time and nobody sweats
it. there is a double standard.

Barbie, that is just not right what your ex is teaching your son. That
is frigging horrible. you are right bigotry is not going away and
unfortunately never will.I do not condone what was said, at all, we are
all guilty of making comments at some point in our lives. But you would
never had heard anything about this if they were white and he called
them white trailer trash hoes.Sharpton & Jackson are the biggest bigots
around from what I can see. They keep trying to stir things up for their
own good, not there so called people. I don't care what color or
nationality you are, either you are a good person or an a**hole, you my
dear are a good person, your childs dad, sorry to say is the latter.

Racism will never go away completely. I teach my daughter to respect all
people until they show they do not deserve respect.
I think what bothers me most is that Jackson (mr love child)and
Sharpton, with his baggage are in the lime light and aparently in
charge. BARBIESBIGSISTER I am sorry for your pain and what may lie
ahead for you. At least you can turn Imus off. When I drive down the
street I cant turn that rap garbage off in the car next to me!

Racism is wrong no matter what. Imus screwed up when he put his mouth
in motion before he had his brain in gear. However, he has a right to
say whatever he wants no matter how stupid it is. Should he be forced
to resign because of his remarks? No! If he is, then Jessie Jackson
should also be forced to resign for his "hymie town" remark. You don't
have to be white to be a bigot, a racist or human enough to occasionally
make a remark that you regret. As for the basketball team they have a
right to be upset but if that is the worst thing that is ever said about
any of them, they will indeed be fortunate. They should just consider
the source, and move on. Remember the words of Voltare "I may detest
what you say, but I will defend unto death your right to say it." This
lynch mob mentality that we must string up anyone that says anything
that offends us has to stop.

I don't recall Ray Nagle getting this much heat over his "chocolate New
Orleans" remark. There are a lot of double standards out there nowadays.
Chris Rock was on Letterman not long ago, making all kinds of cracks
about "whitey". Say something against muslims and you would think that
someone had been murdered, yet christians are slammed all the time and
that seems to be perfectly acceptable.

I too, agree with gardenforge.

I can take or leave Imus, sometimes he has me cracking up and other
times lame as hell, his wife does great things fighting against
vaccinations and Imus helps kids with cancer, so I dont think he should
loose his job or get a suspension, And I defend his right to keep his
views.

I believe at some point in time we will live in an insane world where
people are not allowed to say anything that may hurt someones feelings,
and that would be worse than anything Imus or others say.

He should have not said it but hey people say stupid things all the
time. Its called freedom of speech and its being squashed left and right
so we dont hurt this one and that ones feelings.People need to grow
thicker skin and get a life. There is a war on and we are worried about
this?Puhlease

It is the media of this age, time and generation.

When will we get real news BACK?

I am sick and tired of watching every word I say and being called a
"cracker, whity, PP (prod princess)" and all that when I cannot open my
mouth to reply in kind. Not that I would, but jeeze a loo...

Diane - Your ex is (as you well know how I FEEL about the scum) a pig
from HE**. How's THAT for speaking MY mind?

I agree with gardenf also. When will we be able to either talk back or
shut EVERYBODY up who uses the RACE card to become famous? It is
starting to get under my skin a bit. If I can take it (and I can) why
shouldn't I be able to dish it right back out? I don't talk like that
but certainly WISH I COULD sometimes.

OH - Holy CRAP.

I missed the point of the thread. I got caught up in the replies.

I think yes, the media blows everything out of proportion that a white
male says. BUT, he was WAY out of line with that remark.

I do stil agree with gardenforge.

HI GUY! *arm up way over my head, wavin at cha!*

Does this make sense to yall?
Do you think its true?
How can the comments of one old man make a difference to your
accomplishments? Unless he is your daddy, or in spite of him being your
daddy?

The consensus here in Columbus (from talk and sports talk radio) is
that Imus was stupid for saying what he said, but it's his right to say
what he likes as long as he's willing to suffer the consequences. The
girls on the other hand need to suck it up and realize that no one can
take away what they've acheived unless they allow them to. The point
was also made that if what Imus said was so offensive that the
rap/hip-hop industry as a whole needs to be shut down for what they say.

It seems it depends on what kind of radio your listening too.

Last night on Alan Combs show he said it was no big deal and 95% of the
callers wanted Imus fired and laws to prevent "hate speach"

and I listened to right wing radio and they didnt even talk about it,
another "in the middle" show I heard this morning was about 50-50 with
black callers wanting him fired and white callers saying its no big deal
and to get over it.

I heard that 4 of Imus's advertisers had dropped him.

The really said thing about this, is there is a group of people who want
any and all speach that may hurt people's feelings to be outlawed.

Where is this country going?
