I do not know whom handles it better, but I do know who gains the most. The person who never believed that they could handle such a break-up and learn to be happy with life on their own. That's who really "handles" it better.

men......they have thousands of years of keeping in their feelings. when they are sad, they go out and get laid. When they are mad, they go out and get laid. When they are happy, they go out and get laid. Women cry, talk to their gf's and eat lots of icecream@@@~~

The one that does the breaking up. I agree because they already have someone else. Cheaters That's an assumption. Not always true. I never left anyone for someone else.

It all depends on the mental stability of the person. A mentally strong person will just move on with their life, while an insecure person may become withdrawn and depressed. I'd have to say it's a 50/50 draw here.

So that could be the male or the female. The person who is doing the breaking up has the upper hand and the control.
