Hmmmmmmm...........verbal abuse?

The derogatory intent to demean another?

Lying? Obscenity? Verbal manipulation? Or just old fashioned name calling?

Or concise, clear words that articulate clearly a view?

I speak/type and live in speaking my truth. If I see a whole heap of delusional pretense, I will call it for that. irrespective of who it is, my kids, my friends, or total strangers.... as I expect from them.

Is that verbal abuse? I suspect some would like to call it that.

 Could you forgive someone who was verbally abusive to you?

 Have you ever?

I can forgive, but I don't forget.
I have zero tolerance when it comes to any form of abuse, be it verbal, emotional, or physical....

A qualified yes since it depends on the circumstances. Everyone can lose their cool if they're under enough stress. However, if it is just a manifestation of emotional problems then no.

In either case I would never forget and always be on my guard afterwards.

the only difference between verbal and physical abuse is where the scars and bruises are left...

This is a poweful statement!! I am a social worker and hear and see alot. I see people heal from the bruises but at times those verbal wounds are much deeper and harder to heal.

Forgive, yes. Tolerate, no.

 Have you ever?

For 6 months I avoided being home, from December of 2007 until June 14, 2008, which is a day of celebration for me now.

Since verbal abuse does not show the scars on the outside, sometimes it is tougher to get help for it. Friends and family who do not see it happening will make it very rough for you sometimes because they can't believe it is happening.

Any kind of abuse usually is caused by one person trying to control another. So maybe you should ask, will you allow someone to control you, and forgive them for trying to control you.

I for one did forgive for years, until I finally stepped away from the pain and realized that my life was still my choice, not his.
(this was my experience, I am not saying only men do this)
I will never live that way again although I have forgiven him and feel sorry for him since he will never have a true loving relationship.
