Just curious to find out what people on this site think about interracial dating. I've always dated interracially, not because I prefer one or the other, but because I'm colorblind (think about it...you'll get it).

Anyway, respond if you please.

Once again, a person is a person. Their color, among many other things, are irrelevent to me.

if you specifically only date interracially, don't you think that IS being colourblind?

personally, i think of skin colour as just an attribute that the person happens to have, much in the way of freckles, blond hair, blue eyes, etc.

i don't define myself by the colour of my skin, nor would i ever date a person who did.

I guess I'm still old school white with white, black with black. And if one of my kids were to do that I would have a problem. BUT I would rather them be with someone out side their race then to be cheated on by someone of their race. I hope that all makes since.BTW welcome to the site, have fun and good luckdrinker drinker

Just for clarification... I normally date interracially; however, I don't prefer either/or. I've dated across the spectrum. As long as we get along well that's all that matters to me.

I am part black and part east indian. I have dated indian, white, black, cuban, mixed race and what is really different about each one is not based on the color of their skin but rather where they come from, their culture, their upbringing. I assure you that a white person or a black person from the US is indeed very different in many ways from one in another part of the world.

I don't see anything wrong with having a preference based on ethnicity. It's the same as not wanting to date someone with curly hair vs. straight or someone who is slender vs. heavy. I have my own racial preference for relationships simply because I am attracted to certain features just like everyone else. Now! because I think that others may not always understand my views since this can be such a sensitive topic, I keep my preferences to myself. Maybe that makes me a hypocrite but saying that I don't date purple people can be just as hurtful and offensive as saying to a heavy person that I only date skinny people. That's just me... I
If your preference is based on ignorance and hate then shame on you.

Let's try this again:

I agree with you. I personally have never dated someone outside my "race". I am not prejudice, but I have had very dear interracial friends and there just seems to be too many strong cultural differences that could make an interracial romantic relationship more rocky than others. I raised my son not to be prejudiced and the very first serious relationship he had was interracial. I had no problem with that. My only concern was for possible future children of the relationship... it makes life harder for them. Society is more accepting of these things these days, but there is still a taboo out there that can be hard on the children.

I have fantasized about a certain race and wondered what it might be like, but can't bring myself to cross that line. That's my personal preference. But I don't judge others for their preference.
