Welcome Everyone! This is a quaint little Coffee House for friends and friends to be to gather and discuss books.

Review, Debate, Recommend, and perhaps even pass along books you like to friends.

Currently I am reading A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin the second in the A song of Fire and Ice series. I read the first, A Game of Thrones a long while back and started the second but kind of got distracted from reading so I'm also lightly reviewing A Game of Thrones to refresh myself.

I like Martin's style, good description without getting bogged down in it, also his chapters change which character is being followed which keeps it interesting despite being frustrating (which keeps me reading to find out what happened to the character i was reading about last)

Not a fan what so ever. I am glad you found something you enjoy reading is a great hobby to have.

Well, it seems you need to jump on the bandwagon and become a fan.

Don't you want to read about a mortal girl falling in love with a vampire who is also in love with a werewolf?! noway

Getting kinda dry.
Harper and Collins did a list of the most influential books of the 20th century. I had read about 5-6 of them, this was one of them. A friend recommended it

I'm reading Eragon right now. I watched the movie first so I am enjoying picking up on the extra detail now.

which way is better first? book first or movie first? or does it matter depending on the book?

I think it depends on the book. I've heard that its usually disappointing to watch the movie if you've read the book first. The only thing that I've read before watching is Lord of the Rings, but Peter Jackson is such a fan of the books that he did a really good job.

Book first. Novelists tend to have better ideas than Hollywood screen writers

Book first seems to disappoint me, has anyone seen the legend of the seeker series...good example that series SUCKS but the book series (The Sword of Truth) was good minus a few f the last books.
