But I want someone who is different enough to teach me things and introduce me to sides of myself I didn't know, hidden talents, etc. But for me, it would begin with some common interests and beliefs.

someone like you, or someone to balance out what you lack? A little of both. A relationship without commonality provides for a lot of friction, and one where the two are two much alike gets boring... I'm looking for a balance, but one where we can teach each other new things on common ground.

I want someone who is different than me, someone who can teach me how to lighten up, laugh a little cause I am way to serious all the time. Also to show me there is more to life than just working all the time.
