Not posting this in the relationship section as it is not about a relationship per se.

This morning while waiting in line at Tim Horton's, I ran into an OLD boy friend, from like 10 years ago. We got talking and it ended with him giving me his phone number. He even made it a point a couple of times during the conversation that he was single. He is still as good looking as ever and still as charming.

Here is the thing though. The reason why I left was because I was not sure if I was really into the type of lifestyle that we both shared a common interest with at the time. I have thought about it over the years and often wondered what it would be like to get into it again, but am not really sure if I want to. As I know he is still into it.

Seeing him today brought back SO many feelings that I thought I had gotten over and forgotten about. So here I sit with a number in my hand not sure what to do with it.

Do I want that life style back again? Or not. I guess there really is no advice anybody can really offer, or maybe there is. I don't know my head is going a mile a minute here.

Yeah.....I can only guess as you have only referred to that lifestyle as "the lifestyle".....

It was just an alternative life style.

What are you embarrassed to tell us just what type of alternative lifestyle it was? Remember only the a-hole's will judge you for it, otherwise as long as you are happy who cares.

Are you now comfortable with the alternative life style? If not, then I see nothing changed other than the fact that you are lonely and vulnerable at the moment.

i say that if you left that lifestyle ONCE.....what makes you think that you would not want to leave it AGAIN??

our emotions can cloud our judgements easily and therefore make us accept things that we normally would never go back to....

My opinion would be to stay away....you moved on for a reason

Unless you are endangering yourself and/or others, or doing something illegal, who cares what others think as far as the "alternative lifestyle" is concerned.

Is participating in that lifestyle a condition of renewing the friendship/relationship?

And, if you weren't sure then if you wanted it, what would have changed to make you think that you do now? Sounds like you still have misgivings, and if being with him goes hand in hand with that lifestyle, I would recommend not calling. As much as it sucks to walk away from temptation, compromising for the sake of having a relationship only leads to misery down the road.

I am quite comfortable with it. Just going back into it would mean giving up a lot. I am guessing that is the problem I am having with. It would be like moving out of country and leaving all your friends behind, except I am not leaving.

I moved on because at the time I was only 18. Still discovering myself.

Then if you know yourself, you know what you must do; being with him versus being yourself.
