The results of my MRI were read by the ortho this morning and the verdict is......

herniated disks in my neck. The doc didn't tell me how many or which ones, just stressed it is more than one. My options are continue physical therapy, go to a pain management specialist or go back to work and deal with the pain....or look for a new job.ohwell

Tanya, the doc wants to see how I do with the pain management before he decides what else he can do. Just what I wanted for Christmas...more doctor visits...grumble grumble

I am sorry sweetheart! flowerforyou But from my experience, most people with this eventually end up strung out on pain meds and having to have surgery!

I will be praying that you come across a good doctor that nip this in the bud!

I can relate (((((Eileen)))))flowerforyou ...I have learned to just live with the pain...some days aren't as bad as others. The heating pad has been getting alot of use lately.

I went through that

I had herniated disks at C4/C5/C6. the bulging disks were pushing on the nerve roots so my hands were always numb and had daily migrain type headaches from it

tried physical therapy and vicodin for a year or so but it didn't help

finally in 2000 I went under the knife and they cut out the disks and grafted in bone slices off my hipbone and screwed in a plate to hold it all together (the plate is right behind my adams apple)

it is much much better now. I have some limited range of motion (I have to bend at the back to look up) but the pain is mostly gone

If you can,Acupunture is the best pain management. And the cost is pretty low considering the cost of other forms of treatment.
Best of luck! And sending prayers your way!

Thanks everyone...means a lot to me.flowerforyou

Cindy, I bought this "bean bag" for lack of a better term that you put in the microwave for 90 seconds and can wrap around the neck. It works pretty good.

Robin, mine are at C3-4, C4-5, C5-6, C6-7, C7-T1 and T2-3, so I have the headaches and the numbness too. Pain management doc wants me to try darvocet and topomax and see what that does before I get the epidurals.
