Unemployed? All You Need Is a Husband, Dutch Program Tells Jobless Women

Unemployed Dutch women are being offered a $1,695 fashion and beauty makeover and free membership of a dating agency to get them off unemployment benefits by finding an employed husband. Single job-seekers will be given a new hairstyle and outfit, and tips from a life coach on how to attract a new partner or a job.

They will also be given instruction in social and presentation skills and a place on the exclusive matchmaking service Mens & Relatie (People and Relationships), boosted by a professional photograph of their new image. Mens & Relatie claims a 75 percent success rate in finding long-term partners for its clients.

The thinking behind the scheme, organized by three councils in Friesland, in the north of the Netherlands, is that finding love helps to get the unemployed off state benefits by improving confidence, ambition and motivation. Some local politicians, however, have criticized it as unethical and a waste of taxpayers’ money.

“This is a total concept of trying to get people out of social security,” said Radboud Visser, the managing director of Mens & Relatie, which was hired by the three municipalities to find employed new partners for unemployed lonely hearts. “We know from national statistics that people in a relationship have better health, more happiness, make more money and live longer lives. They make less use of medical systems and social security. So in Friesland they thought, we can try to get people out of social security by bringing them to a nice new husband.”

Mr. Visser said that the first candidate for the scheme had already enrolled. It is available to men and women, but he said he expected most of his clients to be female. “Social security costs €650 a month and Friesland pays us around €650 once — so when they are able to get someone out of social security, they have made their money back after just one month,” he said.

Gosh.. is it just to much to ask.. for a man to marry a woman to give his kids a name? or to prove he committed to one woman in front of friends.. ? or will it run all the new and ex lovers away.. ?

Hey.. it is a 2 way street here.. as far as divorce.. some one said it was so women could take 1/2 of his.
well.. if the man marries and divorces a woman .. who has more.. then he get 1/2 of hers..

Never been legally married, but now I think that if I did, the main reason would be to be able to tell a doctor, "no! don't cut that off!!"

Any man who gets married after getting away from a woman neeeds to see a psychiatrist. Any man who takes up with a woman with kids whether they are grown up or still young needs to realize tha he is only being set up for his money to feed her and her crumb snathers. Her kids come first and youre nothing. She will try to get you to adopt her brood to make you legally liable to support them and pay for their education. Then she is very likley to divorce you and get half od all you own and and half of your pension and half of your IRA and half od your 401K. She will also make you sell any cars you have and any toys you have like bikes, boats, cameras, firearms, property, rental property, half orf your business if self employed. She probably has done nothing to acquire thus and did not help you by working . She most likley does not work and sleeps late, watches Tv all day and stays at home. Yet the judge will insist you sell all you own and give her half of all you have. I would not recommend marriage to anyone. Even pre nuptial agreements are valueless. Men have everything to lose and nothing to gain by getting married. The entire US Court system and the Federal Government has destroyed the concept of marriage in this country. The pernicious influence of the USA has spread worldwide into many other countries that never had divorce until they were influenced by the USA. Even the so-called religious pastors and priests try to convinve women to get divorced. The whole mental health community promotes divorce to the people who see them. These groups of people should mind their own business and leave people in marriages alone. They are responsible for a sizable number of divorces and boken homes.
