So anyway, I work in insurance servicing for home and auto.

Yesterday I got a call from an agent to add a vehicle to a policy.

Upon questioning for information about the vehicle he made reference to several "special equipment" options the car had. A $2200.00 Audio system, a set of $1300.00 rims , and a $695.00 paint job. Yes we cover exotic paint jobs. It turned out that we did not have to list them as special equipment because he had them factory installed....uh, that's about as high a price you can pay is from the factory on bells and whistles. Total bill? $48,000 on the sticker.

Fine I thought then I noticed the policy holder's occupation:

Preacher

Yo preach! So you take money from your wilting flock. Some of the people that gave you money were probably poor, unemployed, or elderly..and maybe some of your flock have no health care and are suffering? But at least you're riding in style now huh? God bought you a shiny new car! GFY!

Oh I’d love to but I can't use the info to look into him....that'd be against my ethics, but I hope he drives his shiny new car up to church and his flock finally wake up. Yeah I know…they never change do they?

What would Jesus drive?

Must be nice to have no ethics...

The rather large building across the street from my store was bought by a church group. They turned it into a rather large church. They've spent, I'm guessing, hundreds of thousands of dollars remodeling it. Everytime I see something like that, I wonder just how many starving people around the world and in this country died for lack of money,that was spent on such things.
But hey, God has another purty new house and His followers can feel good about that. That's what's important.

yes very true, this does happen. But those that do this is just as lost as the ones that deny the Lord.

Excuse me? I am not "lost"...I am here. I've never used other people's money for anything (well, thanks for bailouts mom)...but even in my anti-teen drinking org I refuse to ask for donations to run it. I also do not claim expenses to recover from tax...nope, not a dime...no new car here...don't need one...especially with about 4K in special equipment.

Have any of you "found" people here given to a church and ignored giving to Save Darfur? Didn't think so but I bet you gave to fund missionaries to "save" these people...er, for Christianity then only to find out that after you leave a Saudi Arabian group comes in and slaughters them for converting. Nice, but at least your preacher got a brand new car!

Hey! Drop a few bucks here:

Really.

This thread piques my sense of irony, in that during the term of the most religous president ever, the small town where I live still has 4 churches, but lost both its Ford and Chevy dealerships.

Yet, the pastors are still driving Caddys.

Go figure.

Donations are to go to the church and it's well being. New carpet, repairs, cleaning, new bibles, and things of that nature. It isn't used for personal gain and if it is then they are in the wrong and will have to answere up to God when the time comes.

Yeah the church does. If it doesn't, then it's not a church of christ. Yes i won't argue, their are some cases where this happens, but they will be the one that has to face that at judgement. But not ALL churches do this.

What would He drive? You tell me, was it a 20 passenger van with a PA system? $695 is NOT an exotic paintjob. At most it's pinstriping or lettering.

Seriously, you can tell us, you know what type of vehicle it is. Don't claim "ethics" either, you've already given away enough info that a person in your area could very well discern who it is that you're talking about...

Preachers are just charlatans that take money from the poor, sick, elderly, uneducated and dying. The only true way to tell if one is preaching the word of God is to check to see if he is holding his hand out. If he asks for money, he's a fraud. Because a true faithful preacher wouldn't have to ask for funding, you'd want to give it to him without his asking.

Jesus didn't ask for money, quite the contrary, he threw the money changers out of the temple. He gave a parable how the poor lady who gave a penny gave the most. Now we have churches with gift shops in the front that sell t-shirts and trinkets. The money from which goes to the pocket of the preacher. There's one in Missouri which my cousins attend where the minister drives a Rolls Royce to services, one of five he owns.

A preacher of God's word, won't ask for money. He believes that God will provide, therefor doesn't need to ask.

Yes very true. Heck it's simple really, there is no bartering on the Sabath, and the reason people go to church is to keep the Sabath holy, sooooooo how exactly are they accomplishing this by having a gift shop open on the Sabath in the church?

But nevertheless this is not influenced by the word itself, tells us to do quite the opposite. It's the people of this world and allowing Satan to control their decisions that do this.

No, I'm talking about George W. Bush, who claimed God spoke to him and who created an official office in the Executive Branch for faith-based initiatives. To my knowledge, no other president had such agency.

You're right, the paint job was probably a finish. It was a passenger car, that's all I know past the obvious. Never went back into the policy but could, I actually DO have unimpeachable ethics...lol, I prove that here when I dump on humanity's ball and chain...religion.

~~~
Who needs a stinking religion to know right from wrong? Only a fool does...and the preacher's flock are a flock of fools for giving money to a snake oil salesman for his $2200 dollar audio system in his brand new shiny car....the worst are on TV, Sundays you can find plenty of snake oil dripping from the tube...what a shame...er...sham.
Heh, "god" musta spoke to him again and told him to underfund it and then poke fun at the evangelicals. Makes you wonder why the fundies didn't get pizzed off at being used...yet again. Musta been "gods will".
David Kuo
"Jim Towey (the second director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives) and I did. All the protests to the otherwise are ridiculous and silly. I do not want to get in a tit for tat with the White House. There is a much broader point to Christians about politics. There is this idea, which Christians have perpetuated to Christians, that George W. Bush is, in some way, a pastor-in-chief. His faith is his soul to Christians. It is one of the most inviting things about him. The only problem with that is that he is the President of the United States. He is not a minister. He heads the GOP; he does not head a church. I think Christians have been seduced into thinking otherwise. . . ."
