CAIRO: Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman announced on Friday that President Hosni Mubarak has finally stepped down and handed control to the military..

Suleiman confirmed on nationwide TV that Mubarak and his family had left for the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, 250 miles from the capital Cairo, where protesters are deluging squares and marching on presidential palaces and the State TV building.

The announcement was greeted by cheering across the country. Car horns were heard around Cairo in celebration.

In these difficult circumstances that the country is passing through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to leave the position of the presidency,» Suleiman said. He has commissioned the armed forces council to direct the issues of the state.» 111609 feb 11GMT

I don't know. The Egyptians like their military, and at least the military will honor the peace agreement with Israel.
The objective is to eventually turn over to a democracy.
I think El Baradai will win an election.

I hope it is smooth but I also see it not being so.

Iran will tell us to 'stay out'... while from the other side of their mouths they will be 'inciteing' violent groups to become violent... So Iran my benefit.

Egypt's military has already eradicated Al Queada from their country.
Why would you think they will allow Iranian groups to take over?
The Egyptian people trust and love their military.
