Anyone know where I can find a site for RELIABLE, free window vista or Xp download...if there is such a thing?
I had recently erased my Windows vista (it came preinstalled), so I had no disc to reinstall it. I then purchased windows 7, home premium. Thinking windows 7 was an OS, by itself and not realizing it's an upgrade. So when I installed windows 7, which I currently have, it will not allow me to send in the product key, claiming that it is an upgrade??...with the previous OS, not a clean install, if I'm understanding this right. Someone HELP!! I have 27 days left, and knowing me, it might take that long to straighten this out..Thanks!

I have a legit code for XP that you could try.

Get at me: dfulwilder at mac dot com (saving the email from the bots, one post at a time! LOL)

Weird. Windows 7 requires a clean install (from XP at least, not sure about Vista), since it is not an NT build, even if you're upgrading.

Even if you had it pre-installed when you bought the system, you should have a product key somewhere for the previously installed OS (which is used in conjunction with your Win7 product code). If you're having problems, I'd suggest contacting Microsoft. There's really no reason you should have to find a previous version of windows if you can prove you had one (previous product key).
