Manhattan Federal Magistrate Judge Frank Maas orders payments to 110 survivors and estates of 47 victims, including the pilot of United Airlines Flight 175, which hit south tower of World TradeCenter
A judge Monday awarded 9/11 relatives $6 billion in their suit targeting AlQaeda and silent partner Iran for complicity in the heinous plot that killed nearly 3,000 people.
Manhattan Federal Magistrate Judge Frank Maas’ ruling is the first to hit those responsible for the attacks with civil penalties, which would be due to 110 survivors and to the estates of 47 victims that are parties to the suit.
Plaintiff Ellen Saracini’s husband, Victor Saracini, was captain of United Airlines Flight 175, which struck the south tower of the World Trade Center.
“It’s hard being happy, but I am happy about it,” said Saracini, of Yardley, Pa. “But it opens up old wounds. We werenever in it for a lawsuit. I wanted to know what happened to my husband.”
Last year, Federal Judge George Danielsruled that 9/11 was not just the work of Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban regime that gave them safe haven.
Daniels found that Iran, its Grand Ayatollah Ali HosseiniKhamenei and the regime’s Lebanese proxy Hezbollah aided the attacks.
Iran concealed hijackers’ travel through the country and could have prevented them fromentering the U.S., while an Iranian government memo suggested Khamenei knew of the plot in May 2001.
Investigators also believe that Iran helped Al Qaeda members escape Afghanistan after 9/11 and provided some safe haven. The9/11 commission cited the findings and said they merited further investigation.
Whether the plaintiffs will see a penny is unclear.
Bin Laden died cut off from his family’s wealth, while Al Qaeda is on its last legs and the Taliban remains at war with the U.S.
That leaves the families’ legal team to seek seizure of Iranian state assets overseas, which they say fund terror worldwide.
International seizures are common in the business world, said plaintiffs’ lawyer Tom Mellon.
“But in the terror world, this is uncharted territory,” Mellon said.
Saracini doesn’t care.
“I never was in this for the money. I wanted accountability,” she said. “The money willnever bring back my husband, so I don’t care about it.”

That brings the total to over $15 Billion in lawsuit awards, doesn't it?
It must feel good for the families of the victims to know that Iran Iran is complicit:smile: ...There is a big difference between acquiescence and complicity...

The world would surely be bankrupt if all the victims of illegal wars and invasions and state terrorism were awarded their just rights.

It is estimated that The US has killed directly and indirectly Eight million people Yes [8Million] over the past 60 years.

Sad to think that most of these killings are for Economic reasons.

I am more interested in the number of men, women, and children the US and other countries have saved....Something terrorist defenders never want to acknowledge....

I take it you are aiming that post at me so I will answer you.

No I do not blame everything on The Us but it is about time that people admit the US failings of a disastrous misguided foreign policy that has devastated millions of innocent people.

Then we can start anew...something I hope Obama is hopefully addressing....but we have been there before.

American Exceptionalism has a chance to prove itself...lets see it happen.

I suppose if you compare Obama's domestic policy record with his foreign policy record, the latter looks OK...However, that is far from accurate...Obama has been a disaster on the international front...
Taking credit for Bin Laden does not mean he deserves credit, no matter how many times he pats himself on the back!...Distancing himself from our closest ME ally is a major tactical error...He has not visited Israel once during his administration yet he sweet talks their most dangerous rival!... Thanks to Obama, Iran is now probably even closer to obtaining neclear weapons!... In Syria, Al-Assad continues his rampage while Obama sits idle...
The way this administration has and is mishandling Egypt is mindblowing...Saudi Arabia is disgusted and what about the relationship between Israel and the U.S. if Egypt continues its' turn toward a Muslim Brotherhood?...What then?...
By pulling out virtually all our forces, Obama has managed to PUSH Iraq closer to Iran...
Afghanistan, rather than become an ally, could allow the Taliban to regain power...
Russia, that relationship is at an all time low in spite of us giving in to pressure to back off missile defense in Poland and the Czech Republic...
China, beefing up military capabilities as Obama cuts ours...
Hugo Chevez running rampant....
Mexican drug wars...and again more azz kissing by Obama...
Need I continue?????...Obama a good foreign policy president?...Spare me!!....

First off who is "we"?
Obama hasn't changed anything.
Still in Iraq
More troops in Afghanistan
Guantanamo Bay still open.........

This is a vry good question TJN....Who exactly is we?...It has been asked before, many times...It never gets answered...Why is that?...If it is continually used as justification for a position in thread after serious thread, time and time again, isn't it a fair question?...

Unfortunately, the Obama administration has changed a lot of things by making bad situations even worse...He is a terrible president, an embarrassment to our country...Bush doesn't even come close to matching Obama's arrogance and speaking faux pas and George W. was pretty bad at public grace....

Now I've heard everything. sick sick

We are doomed if there is a judge who would sell his soul to make a ridiculous statement or ruling such as that.

Of course all Judges and Lawyers do work for the crown and swear allegiances to to protect the crown and the corporation.

But this article, if it is true, tops all of the absurd things I have ever read to this date.

Symbolic of what? Lies? Propaganda in support of the official account of 9-11 that has not been proven?

There is no credible evidence of any of it.

If you want to understand the symbolism, talk to family members of 911 victims....Although I strongly empathize with them, they can answer your question far better than I...

If anyone understands symbolism it is me.

It symbolizes support for a fact that has NOT been proven.

Not all of the "family members" agree with the official account but most of them were paid handsomely to keep quiet about that.

I empathize with them too, but I will not be manipulated with sentiment when it comes to the truth.

It was a hollow meaningless gesture in support of a atrocious lie.

All money is pretty much "symbolic."

I would suggest buying real silver while the price is down to $27 an oz.
