Here's a thread where you can put songs that you shouldn't listen to while you have laces in your shoes.

"I Can't Make You Love Me" lyrics are truly excellent, but i'm not too fond of the vocals.

here is an oldie-moldy. A good write but music is so-so early 70's

Ah, Neruda... so damned depressing. Everything he ever wrote. He must have signed his name in tears and wine.

I actually dig that song by John Entwistle. I hadn't heard of him before, but you're right - the lyrics are quite good. And very fitting to this thread.

Let depression reign!

I would hide all sleeping pills for this next one.

Elliott Smith - I Didn't Understand

Pablo Neruda - thank you Leigh, you've given me something of great import to explore.

PP: Elliott Smith - I Didn't Understand great sound and lyrics. I really connected with it. Had not heard of him either. I'm afraid of what might happen if i collect too many of these links. Potent stuff.

I really like that Chris Isaak song. A classic. The Classics must be mentioned on this thread.

I love the Violent Femmes so much. It's doubly depressing because my ex stole my Violent Femmes shirt.

Harry Nilsson - Without You

So depressing that it's actually been used in a suicide scene in a film (The Rules of Attraction).

Poignant. That "can't live without you" feeling is often damaging. And in the aftermath...

Simon and Garfunkel - Bookends

Torgo - even by my standards, that's really goddamned depressing. I mean... I kinda figured that every Crash Test Dummies song has some element of the "not being able to fit in" feeling... but that was awesome, actually.

Damn.

APC - 3 Libras

I'll see your depression and raise you intolerable sorrow.

And being what the song is about it easily could have been corny.

"Superman, the world will never see another man like him."
