Dear Mingle,
What is the point in users doing a profile if no one actually reads it before they start sending messages? Or worse than that, reads it and totally disregards what the person is looking for?
I am looking to make new friends, I state it clearly on my profile, yet today I have had the latest request from men already in a relationship or married, looking to meet up, presumably to cheat on their partner.
Is is so hard to find people who simply want to be friends? I didn't think so, or do some men simply read it as, you say no but you mean yes?
It is just getting a little bit soul destroying that people don't read the contents of a profile first, and just assume as a single female on this side, you must be looking for something else?
Gentlemen, and ladies, I am simply looking for some friends.
Would appreciate some feedback from other users to see if you are having the same problems please.

Hey Jo. I feel for ya. I too state clearly on my profile that I'm looking for friendship, intelligent conversation, to kill time in the forums, etc. ...and NOT meaningless sex, but does it matter? Nope. I still get emails from foreign guys wanting to marry me 'cause they like the way I look in my profile picture.

Some guys just assume if we're on a dating site that we're looking for a date...silly boys!

And others just look at the picture and shoot off an email without ever reading a word of your profile.

A profile is beneficial in that you have a chance to say what you want. For some it's a hook-up, some want love, some like you and I are just looking for friends and socialization. Ignore the morons that don't read it first. That's what I do. Delete button!

Does get you down though.I am sure there are some really nice men out there but they seem to be overshadowed by the usual suspects!

It's like looking for a specific needle in a Mt.Everest size stack of needles. You're gonna get a whole bunch of pricks before you finally find the one you want.
