Why people see difference between a male child and a female child? Enjoyment on birth of males and curse on birth of females? How rubbish this tradition is!

For starters I do know the difference between a girl and a boy's genitalia and what ever your raving on about that isn't my tradition.

I didn't realize they still did that much in Jordan. I thought you guys were becoming more first worldish.

I guess some cultures are like that and people in them ... but seems
like a pretty rubbish tradition ! but some want a boy first sometimes to carry the last name of the family ... some women here keep their own last names once married to carry on the names ... and a lot of times the mother tends to be closer to her son then her daughter and the opposite with the daughter goes to their fathers sometimes ... could mean in your cases baby girls are not consider strong least like a boy ... so many reasons ... but when a mother and father love this child ...just pray it is healthy ... does not matter what they are having... male or female ...

there are some cultures who think like that and have a very defined opinion on gender roles based on generational beliefs.
I can tell you I grew up trying and failing at being a proper young lady. we were supposed to cook, sew, crochet, embroider. clean house.
my brother was supposed to be a man. men don't cry. it's your job to take care if the women folk. know how to work. plant. garden electrical. plumbing. house repair.

here's the reality of life. every person needs to know how to be self sufficient.
neither women nor men are better. there will not always be someone there who is the opposite gender.
so what value will it be a male if you can't even figure out a meal?
or vice versa?
whatever anyone's backgrounds or religious beliefs, both male and female people are important in the world
