The misidentification of the Boston bombers was just one example of the wrong information spreading quickly and easily. The shooter in the awful Newtown shootings was initially misidentified as well, and in recent years, social media has also been the medium of false death reports. Once a piece of information, true or false, is out in the social media world it’s impossible to wrangle it back in.

not nearly as much, I remember when there were only five channels and an antenna, there was much more accountability for what was reported and much more expectation that the facts had been checked and verified,,,,
