Thought that IPs are assigned to more than one Account by ISPs!
One of the reasons why sometimes accessing a Site you're told that your IP is blocked, even though you never visited that site before!
Simply, one Account ,assigned the same IP has been blocked, and along with it a whole slew of others along with them!
BTW,how are you able to access IPs without being an Administrator?

An unique IP address is assigned to every internet connected device whether it be a desktop, laptop, tablet, cellphone, internet enabled printer, camera, etc. That's why ICANN had to hurriedly upgrade from IP v.4 to IP v.6 in 2012-2013 because they were running out of IP addresses. That is how security agencies are able to accurately pinpoint an internet connected device where ever on Earth it may be. Conrad, there is software available on the market for private individuals to trace an IP add. provided they receive a communicatiom from that particular device.
Lonewolf, if your IP tracer software indicated the same IP add. from diff. profiles here it only means one thing. All the profiles were created (with diff. user names) on the same device. It's nothing but a scammer at work. In fact right here in May-June this year there was a lady(?) with five (yes 5) diff. profiles, three said to be in the USA, one in East Asia, and one in Europe. I was able to determine that all the five profiles originated on an Apple iPhone 5 in the US!
Btw, many email providers now block their customers' IP adds from being transmitted along with the email to guard their customers' privacy! You'll know the email add. & the server add. but not the original IP add. I can from next door email you, but you'll never know if it originated next door or from Mars! Security agencies can, ofcourse, get around that block.
Be vigilant! be safe!

premierblue pretty much has it in a nutshell... now I might add that the MAC ID is a bit more hard coded for Identification, however even that can be spoofed or changed.

visit some of the RCE Forums such as Woodmann and you too can learn, if you so desire.... this is not a forum that I will discuss methods used in discovery.

I was just making a Passive observation and was curious, seems my question was answered Thanx much.

and as stated be careful
Peace All drinks

Sometimes I really miss the 'good old days'.

The downside:
1) The mail took days or even weeks to reach, esp. if it was coast to coast.
The upside:
1) The wait for a reply made the heart grow fonder.
2)No junk mail.
3) No spammers.
4) No scammers (atleast by mail).
5 No big brother looking over your shoulder to see everything you read, write, and watch!!! bigsmile

You people have me rolling.

Must be like a jake fella...

You would NOT know anybody's IP here, unless you were an Administrator and had access to the forum dashboard and editing the posts themselves of the posters.

Have you received emails directly from these people with IP headers? rofl

Unless you are using XKEYSCORE and are a contractor for NSA...

You are tracing route on advertising or printers, local LAN or your own hardware that is sending out requests for location to bounce off your firewall.

It's nice to have a firewall, isn't it? But it's not going to tell you posters IP's.

Again, laughable. Go on, talk big and skeerrry. IPv6 is also a favorite direct back door tunneling of the NSA and MS, Cisco...etc. surprised

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Unless they have enticed someone to contact them directly, outside of m2, I don't see any way they could know another users IP.

Edit: Though your linked gif suggests a way someone might gain some info on the ips of m2 visitors - link to a gif on their own site, then look at the log of ips that request that image.

However, I still don't see how they can match that log to actual users. Hell, even non-m2-members can visit the forum pages and have their ips so logged by the host of the gif.

there are other jpeg's and gif's that can be posted in forums that will display to the viewer what is in "My Documents" I'm sure you have seen them too.

and yes as a mater of fact I do have XKS, as you probably know it's in the "Grey Area" of the public domain, source code was leaked long ago.

That would only display the the posters own documents, no one else's.

So by stating that you have something like XKEYSCORE, by way of chopped up open source, then you are a self proclaimed hacker. Tools of the trade make you a hacker.

By the way, that runs into federal laws there that you are breaking, no matter if it is a version of an NSA program you are using. You can have it, but not use it, and in the end, they would know if you are using it or not.

I would hope that the mods watch you on this site in the future.

Well No Kidding, what did you think I meant ?

So by stating that you have something like XKEYSCORE, by way of chopped up open source, then you are a self proclaimed hacker. Tools of the trade make you a hacker.

NO actually you are making this statement, never was it stated I used this Software. there are many other Progies to accomplish same.

By the way, that runs into federal laws there that you are breaking, no matter if it is a version of an NSA program you are using. You can have it, but not use it, and in the end, they would know if you are using it or not.

and why would you even Claim that I have broken a Law with no Proof or evidence, perhaps you are breaking a law by stating this.

I would hope that the mods watch you on this site in the fut
ure.

I welcome the Mods to Monitor me on this site as I hope they monitor all posts on this site.

with that said, the original post was a Passing observation of mine that has been taken WAY off Topic, much like many of the Threads in this forum.

and on that note, I'll post no more in this Thread.
