I've owned my ole' girl since my mom passed away. She's brought many happy moments to my life, and I love her for that. Her name is Paco, and she's a 23 year old double yellow headed Amazon.

I adopted a 25 yr old Amazon from a 92-year-old woman. She loves him dearly and was blessed to find me, a parrot lover! Amazons are awesome pets, but that cannot be owned by just anybody

 very true parrots are not for everyone.
I actually rescue birds from bad situations. I rehab them and re home them. A definate labor of love. A lot of great people can see how beautiful, funny, clever, sweet and sassy they can be. They usually want one and it's tough to say no for reasons explained. I take rehabbing, re homing very serious and would rather keep them than to have the everything undone. Right now I have a female Alexandrian, female catalina, male harliquin. My personal sweet heart is a Sunday conure I rescued 8yrs ago and can't part with my little man.
I was thrilled to see this post on here. TY

I own or should say they own me. I have a 46 yr orange win amazon, he is very opinionated and argues and cussing is his greatest thing he was given to me 5 yrs ago. Next is my severe macaw who is 18 yrs she is a real sweetheart. I have 2 goffins cockatoo's one who is a real spoiled brat and the king of the house or so he thinks. The other one she was my late daughters. I have a 13 yr Congo grey who is my lover. Yep 5 of them and only one I bought, the rest were rehomed with me.

So very true takes a certain type of person to own them. They can be a challenge.

I like many animals but I'm not a parrot lover. My first boyfriend, when I was 21, owned one. That bird was kind of nasty. I gave up my great pet cat to move in with my boyfriend at the time. My cat used to greet me at the door, sleep with me, purr when she was happy, she was furry and great to pet and really liked to be pet. That parrot kind of hated everyone, even when let out of the cage. he couldn't be trusted, nobody wanted to pet him. He bit, was noisy, and to me that is not a pet.

They're so beautiful and intellegent

Always had a phobia of birds in general

Less fear as I get older

I have been around all kinds of pets in my life: dogs, cats, rabbits, hampsters, parakeets, white doves, horses, snakes, raccoons, fish, goats. I happen to prefer animals with fur as pets. I like cats mainly. I guess that there are people who prefer birds.

Yeah, just because I love cats does not mean that I don't love other animals. I just happen to love a furry animal to cuddle with. I know a lot of people hate cats and think dogs are better and more affectionate. I like dogs a lot. Cats are great too. I really love the sound of a cat purring, and dogs cannot compare to that.
