Topic: The Iran bomb deal

The deadline is almost up for a deal. Will the deadline just get moved again? What kind of deal is appropriate? Should any deal be made with someone you can't trust? What happens if they announce that they have the bomb? Should we use the bomb on them? Is Obama just naive? What is really going on here?

From the Washington Post:

"As negotiations between Iran and the great powers press forward, Secretary of State John F. Kerry seems to have settled on this defense of any agreement: The terms will leave Iran at least a year away from obtaining a nuclear bomb, thus giving the world plenty of time to react to infractions. The argument is meant to reassure, particularly when a sizable enrichment capacity and a sunset clause appear to have already been conceded. A careful assessment, however, reveals that a one-year breakout time may not be sufficient to detect and reverse Iranian violations."

A year is not enough time to react.

Obama won't make the deal I think makes sense. Let them develop the bomb. They probably already have one anyway. But make it clear that if terrorist organizations get their hands on, if they use it, or if they even threaten to use it, we will deliver one of ours to Teheran, just like we gave Japan a couple bombs back in August of 1945.

It'll take less than a half hour from the moment the keys are turned, to turn Iran into a wasteland of radioactive obsidian.

Should've been done, years ago.

I read an article a year or so ago where the leader of Iran said it would be worth losing 75% of Iran's population to rid the world of Israel. It probably wouldn't take more than one bomb to end Israel as a nation.

Hey...

If Iran has weapons of mass destruction, they should load that Wheel-Barrow to the brim and head for the boarder. sad2

I can't believe all the hype! whoa

How soon we forget the media lies to us to fit an agenda sponsored by govt, and what it has brought us to already.

Doesn't anyone remember the "follow the money" rule?

Haven't we meddled enough in the affairs of others?

Even if Iran had a bomb how would they deliver it? By mail?

Like Israel has to worry when they're sitting on 300 or more, are NOT a member of the treaty like Iran is, and has the vehicles for delivery..... thanks to the USA, and has NEVER been subject to oversight!

Personally, that worries me more!

Does anyone really believe Nutty Yahoo could get away with his actions against the Palestinians if Israel wasn't nuclear?

Israel's conventional military is battle hardened and has already won again the Arab neighbors. They haven't needed nukes ... yet.

Let me get this right. Iran has a stated mission of wiping Israel off the map, and I'm supposed to not worry about them acquiring nuclear weapons? slaphead

Wonder what Iran has on the present Administration?

Good question. If you take a step back and look at what Obama is doing with our friends and enemies, it is really hard to come up with any form of logic whatsoever. Maybe Iran knows that Obama is a total empty threat and will not use military force no matter what! With Obama still in office for two years and Iran less than two years from a bomb, maybe Iran's plan is just to do whatever they want and use the negotiations to stall. It seems to be working. The US has stopped Israel from attacking. That's all Iran needs.

Wow....don't get me wrong! Not about "hating or blaming" anyone but governments!

Governments are force! People are victims!

The saddest day on Earth was when people decided they needed govts to control...er... protect them. The reality of rights and freedom has turned to one of status and privilege, based on wealth and power with the common man victimized by recourse, lied to, trapped by debt, and childhood dreams turning to nightmares.

My govt's bigger than your govt!

The Iranian negotiating team in Lausanne including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Journalist Amir Hossein Motaghi sought political asylum while covering the negotiations Photo: FABRICE COFFRINI/AFP
As the Iranian deadline for an agreement draws near, it is looking more and more like the proposed nuclear deal with Iran is a really bad deal.
Not that we didn't already know this, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned about a bad deal, as has a majority of Congress.
But now comes confirmation of just how one-sided the negotiations have been, straight from a top Iranian official in Switzerland for the nuclear talks who has defected to the West.
"The US negotiating team are mainly there to speak on Iran's behalf with other members of the 5+1 countries and convince them of a deal," said Amir Hossein Motaghi, exposing U.S. President Barack Obama's seeming obsession with reaching any sort of deal with Iran.
Motaghi was a close media aide for Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and was the head of his public relations team and social media efforts during his 2013 election campaign.
But now, according to The U.K. Telegraph, Motaghi has sought asylum in Switzerland, denouncing both the government of his home country and the ongoing nuclear talks.
Motaghi said that he quit his job with the Iran Students Correspondents Association, having become disillusioned with his job as a reporter due to the fact that he was only allowed to write about what he was told to write about.
"My conscience would not allow me to carry out my profession in this manner any more," said Motaghi, as he went on to reveal that a number of so-called "journalists" at the nuclear talks are only there to ensure that all news makes it back to Iran through the proper channels.
This man took a courageous step to expose the ongoing nuclear talks and can likely never return to Tehran, as he would probably be arrested and forgotten in prison.
