How long should it take to get ready for a date?
Do I need to spend a whole day?

shower - 15 minutes

sms to say you are stepping out of the shower and are getting ready... to mess with his mind... 30 secs.

choose clothes 1 minute

put on shoes, clothes, grab stuff that matters (house keys, mobile phone, money...)5-7 mins

so i would say 20 to 30 minutes tops.

Dude, you have any idea how long hair and make up take? Really? Half hour for men maybe. I take 2 hours to look smashing.

I don't think you ladies realize that you look smashing the way you were born.

It is my opinion that dates should be about who we are in our natural state not some pretend version of ourselves.

Maybe that's why I'm single...I need an alter ego!

If I spent all day getting ready for a date and the woman decided she didn't like me that would be a big punch in the old psychological nose. Better to have spent 15 minutes then i can blame my lack of preparation!

You wouldn't be saying that if you saw us without makeup. We lure you in and then when you start to love us, we take off the face. Then if you don't like the face, it's too late because you have your heart invested in us. Works great for the ladies, not so great for the men.

Actually my pictures I have no make up on..I figure when I came on here I would scare the poor guys to death and if they still liked me I was a shoo in when I cleaned up good. I like to surprise my guy with it on the date.
To the Original question I can be ready to go on a date if it is casual in 30 minutes..
If it is dressy I need an hour...

^ scare the poor guy approach? Hmmm. Not a high success rate there.

Actually I would say yes... I am 54 years old and my inbox is full even though I am not looking I have my guy so I think it is successful..
Each person has to advertise in their comfort zone... The same as as getting ready for a date We all have to do what is comfortable for us. I have found in my personal life as well as professional life when people try to be something they aren't they tend to fall or it doesn't come out well.IMO

To the guys posting here...haha

One thing I have learned over the years is to chill.....
I love that waiting time.....
Pour another scotch.....
Finish reading what you just Googled.....
Last minute freshen up.....
Then wait with anticipation.....
As the beautiful woman you've ever seen.....
Walks up to you and says.....
Ready honey?.....

I think for a woman working in an office environment, a date after work is fine, a quick squirt of Chanel No5 and your good to go in my opinion.

Good that you are successful but it's also the caliber, not just quantity of men. Very true. Be true to yourself.

I remember this song, which certainly shows my age, when guys just got tired of waiting. laugh

Brook Brothers - 1961

Darling, oh Darling, you're not the same.....

With your lipstick, powder and paint
You're all dressed up like a-what-a-you ain't
You spray your hair a different shade
We're goin' to a movie, not a masquerade
Warpaint, warpaint, you don't need-a warpaint, warpaint
Can't you see you're not goin' to fight a war
You're only goin' out with the boy next door

When you put your head on my chest
You get lipstick on my vest
You may think that you look cute
I don't think it's funny when you ruin my suit
Warpaint, warpaint, you don't need-a warpaint, warpaint
Can't you see you're not goin' to fight a war
You're only goin' out with the boy next door

(Instrumental Break)

Darling, you're not a hopeless case
Just go in the house and wash your face
There's still time and there's still hope
Let me introduce you to a cake of soap
Warpaint, warpaint, you don't need-a warpaint, warpaint
Can't you see you're not goin' to fight a war
You're only goin' out with the boy next door

Warpaint, warpaint, you don't need-a warpaint, warpaint
Can't you see you're not goin' to fight a war
You're only goin' out with the boy next door
Warpaint, warpaint, wooh-ah-woh
Warpaint, warpaint, wooh-ah-woh
Warpaint, warpaint, wooh-ah-woh
Warpaint!

Men made us this way and then they compose songs to complain. If you don't want us wearing makeup, then we shouldn't have to shave our armpits and legs, either. Let's take this all the way. How do you like us looking all natural now, men?

aaargh!
drop the Photoshop stuff.

a bit of black in the - whats it called... Eyelids?
but anything else is a waste of time.
Heh but that's my opinion only.

and hair? hair can dry while you're on the way to the meeting point.

Personally, I prefer a woman to wear little or no makeup at all, or whatever she is feels comfortable with, but there are occasions when a woman needs to wear some make up.

whatever steps out of the shower, all wet, drippping hair, no underwear... that is her, her raw physique, with nothing added and nothing hidden.

If i can appreciate her beauty then and there, she's a keeper.
If i can't and appreciate the "painted/done up" version from last night more, she deserves a thousand times better than me and should dump my whoopdeedoop on the spot.
[and i take action according to this - and have dumped myself once]

how about that?
Stop worrying. :)
