I guess it would depend on what type of zombies...lol! In the book World War Z, zombies can survive in water. They can't swim but they can't drown. I think I would try to be like Dawn of the Dead...get to a mall or supermarket. All the supplies you need. I have an ex who had a strategy so we actually discussed it a time or ten.

come on oP set the stage.. are these fast moving zombies..?.. . when you get bit do you become effective immediately?.. can they climb walls for instance? .. my oldest son and I talk about this.. . usually after the Walking Dead show.. ... his idea would be to confiscate a train.. with a lot of box cars.. to carry supplies such food weapons.. vehicles.. . tools lumber so on and so forth... have sleeping compartment cars. a ... basically hook up a passenger train ,up to box cars.... and just ride the rails..... stoping outside of major cities and towns.. to gather supplies.. have a box car full of vehicles.. to drive to do the scavenging with... . not a bad idea actually..lol . How about we make them fast like in 28 days later.

Although they weren't technology zombies(28 days). For this they will be fast although they can't climb they can jump, and they can't swim but water doesn't stop them from trying and severing the brain stem or destroying the brain is the only way to kill them.

Hmm.. fast zombies.. now that's a challenge..lol... means you don't have time.. to gather up your belongings and run... you must always have a out..oui...... so forget about riding a bicycle then I guess..lol

okay first off.. why do you not participate in the other forms..?.. .. and you know they'll just get you.. if you ride your bicycle... tip.. if you are trapped at home.. and you have a upper level... remove the stairwell... . I have the zombies handbook guide..lol.. freaking awesome book.. .

For a base, I'd like to set up somewhere high, maybe the second or third story of a warehouse, that's accessible only by ladder. Not only do most zombies not climb ladders, even if they did I'd only be facing them one at a time. Though that would be kind of a problem if I had more than one or two other survivors bunking in the same base. "CLIMB, BOBBY-JOE, CLIMB!" "BUT WHAT ABOUT SUSIE-CUE AND STEVENS??" "THEY'LL COVER YOUR BACK! JUST CLIMB!" sounds of screaming, flesh rending, and munching of bones "NOOOOOOOOO!" Uh, what will you do when you run out of food and water?

Fast ones like in 28 Days Later...there would have to be a different strategy for sure however those fast ones will eventually turn slow as decomp sets in. If we're talking zombies from WWZ the book, I'd be alright in the winter. They would all freeze.

Uh, what will you do when you run out of food and water? The same thing every other survivor of the zombie apocalypse does? Run out during the day or the night (whichever time the zombies are at a disadvantage) and raid for foodz. That's kinda the default plan for the zombie apocalypse. If you mean "Since the zombies are already assaulting your difficult-to-exit base", then that battle is pretty much already lost (unless I get some of those helpful people with frag grenades and lots of ammunition). Optimally, the ladder should be the only easy entrance - but I bet you could rig it up so you could have somewhere safe to leap out a second- or third-story window (into water, if it's on the docks, for example), or have some sort of trapdoor that lets you out where the zombies aren't.
