A broken heart I hard to mend!But it isn't impossible!When we're hungry,we need food...we simply say,"yes,I need food"...
When we're sleepy,we need sleep...we simply say,"yes,I need sleep"...
Why not love then!!!
Take pride in saying,"yes!!!I do need love"...
Partly given and partly taken can work wonders for both the former and latter...!

Be it for your mate, your siblings,parents,teachers,.....Society!!!

Hello,
I don't think "love" can be compared to " food" & sleep" .
Love is more of a "gift" a "privilege"... NOT an physical need to live/ exist.

But our 'power to love' & to have 'power of choice'..
Makes us HUMAN, & separates from ALL other ANIMALS.

Because much like sex whether or not you get it is entirely dependent upon the whims and feelings of another person.

And if you make direct requests of other people to fulfill your own needs, they tend to start looking like they might be being used, try to determine your ulterior motives, or possibly use your desires against you to get what they want.

Also, love has a ton of connotations, associations, and expectations built into it by the person defining it for themselves.

Not to mention, it's not like it's something people keep in their pantry. You can ask for love, but no one can immediately just hand it to you...except maybe your mother. I don't think mother or parental love helps heal hearts romantically broken, though, unless you're a teenager.

Other than that, if your "heart" was just broken by someone you loved, then if someone gives you love just because you need it, but takes it away when you're better, that will just break your heart again...wouldn't it?

I disagree, whole-heartedly.

Love does NOT depend on whether or not someone returns it. It's independent. It stems from personal feelings and it need not be reciprocated.

Of course, it's a lot more palatable - and much less frustrating - when it is.

I never liked the idea of associating Love with simple things like hunger.

It is assuredly NOT a need. Not remotely.

Particularly not for the people who most commonly declare that it is.

Whenever I run across someone who is busy talking about how they NEED love, I find they aren't really talking about LOVE, at all.

They are usually talking about how someone OWES them some sort of "fun." They are expressing resentment at being alone at night when other people are having sex. Or they are mournfully anxious because they are afraid that if they aren't in a relationship, that the rest of the world looks down their noses at them.

You wont quickly die, for lack of love. Sure, studies have shown some correlation between how emotionally happy someone is, and how long they live, but that's not like hunger or some other actual NEED.

Pretending that it is, as a way to try to manipulate the universe or the people around you into GIVING you "love," will cause you to be without it even LONGER.
