I am most impatient.
Hate waiting for anything, will take a book
along just to not waste time.

I bet we spend half our lives waiting.

How much in human life is lost in waiting.

Well young man, I was that fascinated by your question and what the answer could be that I Googled it.

Yes I know, don't believe all you read on Google.

I read a few answers and from what my limited intelligence can gather, it's about 2 years.

Now there's a thought

This wasn't inspired by someone rejecting the concept of the sex-on-the-third-date rule, was it?

Unfortunately, some lose their life all together by not waiting.

But I agree with your premise. There are many hours spent/wasted sitting idle waiting your turn.

I remember when we used to talk to one another in the checkout lanes. Now it's become a huffing and puffing, eye rolling, "Hurry up and get out of my way!" mentality instead of a "community" mentality.

I normally don't venture out until odd hours to be able to purposely avoid "rush hour" traffic and crowds in restaurants and stores.

Now, I do offer to let old people go in front of me all the time. Not so much out of a respect for my elders as I figure they got the least amount of time to waste!

I can certainly relate to this.
The world has become a less friendly place since I was a boy I think.

As for the old people, yes, I believe in karma and what goes around comes around, I hope so, won't be long before I'm due to curl my toes up that's for sure.

How much in human life is lost in waiting.

Just as much is lost in anything else?

Because you can't have it all? You can't grasp it all? You are finite and fallible and every choice has consequences?

And no matter what choice you make, to move or stand still, to wait or act, you are losing something?

With maybe the caveat that the more friends and family you have that actually know you and care then the more other people can grasp what you can't, keep from being lost, that which you value?

Don't add sleeping ; that is critical recharging time for your brain/body. If you are going to count sleeping you better put in eating and a few other physical necessities.

Also depends on who your employer is. The military is famous for "Hurry up and wait." I doubt they are the only one.

I will say if I have to get stuck in line too much I stop shopping there or leave everything I plan to buy so the store manager knows just how much sales he missed out on. I have been known to snap a selfies, or series of selfies, and email them to corporate retailers to show just how many customers they are peeving. Always interesting when you also photograph how much customers pilfer when you make them wait. That really wakes them up.

How much in human life is lost in waiting.

Patience is a virtue to some...
...or a slow death to others...

We are all waiting one way or another. Some are just busier while doing it.
