if someone messages you and says that they like something you said in a thread or they read your profile and like what they see..

do you message them back?

say you take a little looksie at their profile and in all honesty you do not find them physically attractive in their photos or perhaps they are not in age range that you would like to date, do not live within driving distance or just leave ya kind of ...bleh

hold up I am getting to my point...sheesh

do you talk to them anyways? do you invest the time, energy needed to answer endless questions about yourself with someone you know full and well you will never meet and do not really want to if given the opportunity.

yes I will answer this with brutal honesty
it's not that I am " all that and a bag of chips"

I just get bored really quickly..

I think I might be missing this gene..I was never one to want to sit and chit chat for hours on phone either

yes, sometimes. not everyone is a potential match. some can be or just are simply friends

That was too much chit chat for me to handle...laugh  oops

Seriously tho, it depends on the approach whether i respond to them or not. I don't really use profiles to make that decision.

hahaha see I freely admit by nature I am impatient
most of time with me..ya got about 2.3 seconds to impress me with your ability to form a complete sentence that involves more than "hi" or " hey" or "what's up"

I will chit chat.
I have met some really great people out here.
By chit chatting..

Some will some won't
this is up to the person.

I would probably not respond back unless they tried to contact me again then I would politely decline.

so I don't give the impression of false hopes. Unless the person is ok with just chatting knowing that it wont lead to anything else.

I never see them anymore, I tune out that whole block :-)
Except those times when I have just clicked away and catch
a piece of something interesting, of course, going back does
not work because a new ad is there..it takes some time to
learn this :-)

i have no problem with it, i am happy enough to chat with anyone, whether there is any hope of a "match" or not.

i just think friendliness and politeness is the least you can offer to people if they have taken time out to be friendly and polite with you.

I'll answer all msgs unless it's an obvious scammer or if it's just a 'hi' msg with no pic or any info in the profile.
Sometimes it takes me a lil while though...especially if I just jump on to see what's up during a break in my day.

I'm very selective myself. There's a happy few, not even a handful.
If there's something to talk about, a click, yeah. Otherwise, can't be @r$ed.

Sometimes it's really worth it. I met someone online once that's still very dear to me. Feels like a soulmate. I even stayed with him and his wife when I went to the UK. And I only 'met' him online whilst gaming, go figure. He arranged to have a caravan on his driveway so me and my kids could sleep there (their house was very small).
About 2 years later they stayed with me when on holiday on the mainland.

But in general I don't spend a lot of time on chit-chat. I may be single, but I got things to do

Yes I do. Not everyone on mingle is going to be a good fit but hey you might meet someone with common interests and to myself I love good conversation.
