I want to know have any of you made a deal with a friend that if you weren't with anyone by a certain age you would marry each other?

If so how did it turn out?

Marriage, is a damned good way to ruin a friendship.

Just sayin'...

I am the last one out of my friends and relatives who is not married, so I guess I am the winner or loser of those bets, its all how you look at it.

Did you watch "My Best Friends Wedding" recently?

If so how did it turn out?

I can imagine few scenarios.

1. They never got married, remained friends the entire time, and were content with that, using their friendship to make sure they never had to face that scary growing up adult relationship stuff.

2. They got married to other people, the friendship waned and they never spoke to each other again.

3. They got married to other people, at some point (before or after the marriage) one friend "confessed" their "true" feelings, and they never spoke to each other again.

4. They got married to other people, one or both got divorced, they reconnected via facebook, one used the line "remember when we made that promise?" they meet up, catch up, have sex, then slowly drift back apart or never speak to each other again.

Making a pact of "if we don't find anyone better by the time we're x, let's settle for each other," is something extremely sad which people would not like to be reminded of, and those that would have to rely on that in order to get a proposal are not going to have long relationships.

Hi Annie,

The girl, long time ago: "That Bloody Gerard Butler" ...

The man: " I'm scared that i'll always be misunderstood" ...

And vice-versa....Humm.

Well, that last piece of fruit is rotten but if I want some fruit I guess I'll eat it!

Bad logic.

No, I never made that kind of deal.

Real friendship for me that stood the test
of time is priceless.

And what made it last longer than others
is because of the absence of lust.

If there would have been a chemistry,
then we would have fallen in love with
each other a long time ago.

the fact that we did not,
it means we are destined
to be with someone else who would
complete us, who would make us
think of lust, chemistry, intimacy,
companionship & a lifetime of
fights & making-ups:smile:

I find it unfair for both us
if we will settle to ruin
our friendship, & be with
each other, just because
we have not given our best
yet, to find that someone
destined for us.
