Love at first sight (Infatuation), and Love over time (True Love). How people around me have always looked at it.
I find myself in a dilema, meeting a lady for the first time not knowing which direction to take.

I think you are wise that love at first site is infatuation and that is wonderful...
When I was in my teens Yes I was inlove and out of love as fast as I changed my socks rofl...

Now No I am a bit more of hmmm... I like what I see and I would like to know more.. And slowly go from there.

What direction to take is the one that presents itself... Time is your best friend on this one. IF it is love it will be there in time. Infatuation usually goes away quite quickly...

Good luck...

You only sort of have control over love of either kind.

My experience has been, that I can't make myself fall in love; and I can't make myself care deeply in what you call the "true" love way.

I CAN restrain or at least caution myself when I feel the crush sensation coming on. I don't really recommend doing that to others though, since it's no fun NOT falling. Last time I did, was about six years ago.

I guess I only suggest that you accept the risks of whatever choices you make. If you risk falling in love, it might be wonderful, and it might lead you to make a fool of yourself. If you restrain yourself, you will prevent that, but you will also close yourself off partially, and that might inhibit what CAN happen.

Falling in love itself, is (I believe) something that happens entirely within the individual who experiences it. Perhaps being aware of that, can help one to experience it, but still be cognizant enough of the fact that the focus of your attention (the other person) wont be perceiving anything that you are; neither are they responsible for ANY of what you do feel. At least, in the sense that no one can MAKE you fall in love with them.

So if things don't work out, remember that, and be polite as you withdraw as gracefully as you can from their life (if things don't work out). And if they do work out, remember that you will likely experience the passing of the In Love phenomenon, and have to learn afresh about the other person.

Thanks for your words of encouragement my lady.
If I may ask; What thoughts came to your mind the day a man ever asked you out for the first time?
