This has happened to me twice over the last 2 years. Someone left a message on the house phone, " you are being prosecuting for not paying taxes, this is your second notice, contact this number or you will be arrested." Something like that, and there was a number to call. I'm not that gullible. First of all, they never said the name of the Person. Second, it sounded like he was reading a script from a paper. It was not a second notice, he was just trying to scare me. The FBI doesn't work that way. The person had an accent that I could not place. I ignored it. This last call was about a week ago. The one before that was about 1 1/2 years ago. Does anyone else get these calls? What do you do? This is on my house phone, not my cell.

You call and report it to the police... Normally they will send the info to the Fraud department.

It has been in the news on the scammers trying to get to you many different ways.. They say it is taxes at times they say it is the Police Department and if you pay the fine that is in your name right now they will not send someone out to arrest you for warrants ect...

None of those type of places call you on the phone.. All Government places always sends a letter... through the mail they never call to ask for money..

Oh Jaisus lol this would put a stop to it.

No I can't say that I have, I know way back before Pancho even had Internet or any type of Internet devices he got a call from someone trying to bill him for fixing his computer. When he told them he didn't own one they tried to sell him one.laugh

My roommate recently was harassed over his cell phone by some woman threatening to sue him if he didn't pay his bill for having his computer fixed. She went on to tell him that he owned a Microsoft pc... which he laughed at her he only has Mac's. He did report it.

What is sad over this type of scammers is the elderly and naive.

Same thing in Canada, for about four days in a row twice a day I'd get that message.
Funny thing is it's never a person always a recording,I wish a real person would phone.

I wouldn't worry about it Cat. It's a fishing scam. Seeing who will call back. As in the movie War Games, the best move is not to play.

The National Do Not Call Registry ....

gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.

Same here in Texas. The number i got to research turned out to a non-fixed voip number. So I tell them they can't blood out of a turnip. And they should know where I live or work to arrest me. They don't call back for a few months.
