Topic: Email Filters

It's probably been asked before, yet I'm going to ask again:

Is it possible to change the email filters?
As it is, I get tons from people I do not want to receive mail from. Yet I cannot use the 'distance' option, as that would also exclude ppl from the USA, meaning most in the forums that I like to talk to and wouldn't mind receiving mail from.

I'm wondering why there isn't an option to select by country? This has nothing to do with discriminating, I just know for sure I do NOT want anything with someone who's not from a Western culture.
What's wrong with knowing what you want?
And why do I -and many others with me- have to put up with tons of unwanted mails that we cannot do anything about with the current email filters?

I understand the argument of 'international forum' and 'sponsors' and stuff, but giving us better email filters doesn't mean blocking certain groups from the site, does it? It just means making life on Mingle more pleasant.
And I would think most of the traffic and action in the forums is generated by Westerners. Why is it that exactly that group that keeps this site up and running has to get harassed the most?

Chrystal, I do not see them doing any changes anytime soon on the filters...

Actually as far as not using them due to interacting with those within the forums.. As long as you make the first contact in e-mails they are good to go to respond back and to e-mail you later once the filters have been set.. But those that do not fit within those filters still can not e-mail you...

As well if a member wants to have contact with you all they have to do is send you a nudge and ask you to e-mail them cause they can not get by your filters..

Filters have nothing to do with nudges.. Just saying if you want to keep the filters yet still be able to communicate with those in the forums.

Okay, thank you Kristi!

Does this 'first contact' still count when it's been a while since you been in contact with that person?

Only if the filters were set then you had contact with them. If your filters are not set right now and someone e-mails you then you set them, then no they can not contact you unless you set them send them a e-mail and once they respond then your good to go..
