I like and appreciate it; I don't expect it. You talking about the car door I spose? Must admit I cannot remember the last time a guy held open a car door for me. And yes, I do notice. I do not necessarily get upset about it. The only time I really don't like it is when it's raining or really cold, esp if I'm wearing a dress/skirt. I do feel taken aback if a guy walks past 'my' door, doesn't open it, walks around the car to get in himself, then opens my door from the inside. THAT is bleeping rude. Been there ... not a pleasant experience. In other cases it depends. If the car is parked in such a way that he'd have to walk all the way around just to open the door for me, I don't necessarily expect him to. I will appreciate it, but then, when is it okay for a guy to stop doing that? Or is it never? |

well if its a sliding door i wouldn't mind opening it for him , but if its a very heavy door and he doesn't open it for me, im outta his door for good :tongue2

It is not usually a question for me and whoever is in my vicinity. I usually go straight for the handicapped button to open it for everyone. Now, if there isn't a button, then, yes I hope he is courteous enough to open doors. I don't really need the help, but it is still appreciated.

I mean, that way it won't be something nice to do for his lady anymore, but something he has to do? Mandatory. No one likes mandatory things. I must say it is an interesting subject... Not sure about the entire door thing to be honest. What if the guy does plenty of other things to show his appreciation? I mean, there's more to being a gentleman and chivalry than opening doors... Also, it is possible that a previous partner 'programmed' him the wrong way so to speak, didn't treat him like a man, didn't make him feel like a man. Then you sort of have to re-educate him on how to do this, by showing/telling him what you need as a woman. The drawback of everyone having a past at this age. |

Sorry, CrystalFairy but...I am not sure re-education is worth it. Not being able to accept each other as is with minor adjustments, nothing related to deeply rooted system of values and already formed habits spells too much drama with most likely less than favorable outcome.
