What's the Stupidest excuse for Not meeting in person, with someone You really like ?

I once had a man, I really liked, tell me it was taking a long time to meet me in person, because he was on a Slow boat from China.

Just yesterday, the guy told me he was chickening out.

He didn’t explain why. We had talked every day morning, noon and night and really hit it off.

I never stood up a date, nor have I ever been stood up. Although I was actually dating this woman once and she told me that she thought we should brake up over the phone, so I told her I would come over so we could talk and do it in person at least. She said she was already in a different state which was literally on the other side of the country.

Actually, mine happened back in high school. There was a girl a year or so behind me. She was beautiful and extremely smart, but I didn't think she knew who I was even though we shared a class together. Well, the following year she began going to a very famous private school. It turned out I worked with her brother's best friend, so I began thinking of her again. I took a chance, and called her. She actually remembered me. When I asked her out, she didn't hesitate to say yes.

The day of our date, my car broke down.

So what was my stupid excuse?

I couldn't bring myself to ask her to drive instead.

He couldn't leave his house alone.

Not a dog or cat or a pet rock. Not even him.

But his HOUSE

Hate that. I've missed a few opportunities because of my vehicle breaking down at the last minute. I don't trust any vehicle to be reliable. Not even my new car with OnStar. The only thing I trust is that it will eventually f*** me over.

No matter their reason, he's just not into you if he's not meeting you. shades

Well, I haven't had anyone bail out of an arranged meetup for a "stupid" reason, since High School, and even that would probably be better characterized as a straight up lie.

I did have someone on a site like this, out of the blue, message me INITIALLY, that if I weren't so far away, they'd want to meet and date.

I ran a calculation using Google maps: she was about NINE miles away.

Yep..I've run into a LOT of guys for whom anything further than 15-20 miles is "too far".
Honey, I drive further than that for groceries...huh

I don’t think it’s either of those. He told me he’s very shy. Maybe I scared him away.
