Good Evening my lovely family of Mingle 2, Shout outs to all my posters that voiced in my last topics on "Jealousy Vs. Over Reaction Which RU?" we spilled some real good Hennessey on the floor with that topic. I want to take a break off dating and focus this on What makes a great cult classic horror movie? Is it The blood & gore? Is it the damsel in distress that stumbles and screams as the killer follows pursuit? Or is it the creepy music score like the world famous Jason Voorhees " Ch..Ch...Ha....Ha" or the 80's synthesizer like the George Romero type of music. Growing up think back when you was a kid during Halloween night watching the 24 hour horror-thon, what was your favorite horror movie? Who was the villain that gave you nightmares? I can remember as a kid my mom and my little sister & I would pop some Popcorn & Pepsi's cutting all the lights off and we would sit and watch as much horror we can until we fall asleep I thought the Exorcist was so scary at the age of 11. The next day going to school and having privileged enough stay up later than my friends and feeling good that lived to tell about the scary tales i watched. In fact give me 10 of your favorite horror movies and why? Was there any movie you felt never got the acknowledgement for being a classic? What style of horror you a fanatic too? Is it Psychological, Slasher , Who Done It type of horror ? Or you fan of all? What's your top 10 favorite horror movie or top 10 villains of all time? lets have fun.....

All Replies Will Be Answered!
Thank You All

EyeAmYourHost39.

I give my synopsis on why i choice my top 10. In in oder i posted here we go.

" Sleep Away Camp...Actress Felicia Rose made the character " Angela" spooky. Thru the whole movie she goes after campers who did her wrong. You never see her literally kill anyone but you see her hands tells her story. Which i research the hands you see during the killing scenes was the hands of the guy who played her cousin" Ricky" at the end of the movie(spoiler alert) we found out " Angela" was a boy and the penis shot was epic.

Hellraiser.....Pinhead and the original cenebites was the best CGI effects. The hell box once its open all hell breaks loose sort of speak.
The Hills Have Eyes ....Wes Craven the master of micabre told us a crerpy tale of a family heading to California and made a pit stop in the Nevada desert at an Airforce testing base to find out its a creepy cannibal family looking to eat the family. The creepiest villain to me was the father " Jupiter...

House Of A 1000 Corpse.....Anything Rob Zombie done gonna be classic. When you have Rob Zombie and my favorite horror actress Karen Black in a film Cult classic to me.

When a Stranger Calls. Its always scary when u home alone your phone rings and a horror villain calling u from within the house ....scary huh?

The Blair Witch Project....A creepy urban legend about a witch Ellie Keswick death haunts the Black Hills woods in Berkitzville Maryland. The creepy part was when they running in the woods and they get spook by Ellie's presence.. .scary.

The Exorcist....After watching the Exorcist i never ate green peas soup again.

Pumpkinhead....a story of revenge the father wanted to bring back his son from an bike accident to find out for order for his son to come back he had to bury him on cursed.ground... Pumpkinhead CGI was brilliant.

Last but not least Alone In The Dark....based on the video game alone in thr dark was a classic creepy movie...watch it without the light off and feel the macbre....

My next top 10 list will be based on the best CGI effects

Well my synopsis on your Freddy Kruger Omen Rotweiler dog ...
Well Freddy was scary because he can malnupulate your dreams to kill you. He preyed on your fears....

The Omen Rotweiler was creepy because it seemed he comes out of nowhere and his barking is like almost as if he talking to your spirit to warn you im here on the sake of Damien. The agenda was Damien was the Antichrist and his real father the Devil will must carry on. Anybody coming in between that got killed. The only way to kill the Antichrist. Damien is to take him to holy ground and stab him 7 times....why 7 times...The letter G is the 7th letter in the alphabet...G is the initial for God.....to stab Damien 7 times is Gods will.

Oh my.

I watch so many movies, including horror movies that I can't actually come up with a top ten list that has any significance to how much I like them. The minute I write a top 10 list and post it, I'll remember another movie that I like more.

Most horror movies are garbage but a few are worth watching.
I have horror movies that I have watched more than 20 times.
I have ones that I have watched more than 10 times.
There are horror movies that I watched once but thought they were outstanding for the genre.

Some movies listed as horror strike me as drama, fantasy, science fiction or action. Most are just comical.
Alien (1979) is often listed as a horror movie but it is certainly a science fiction fantasy movie.
Jaws (1975) is listed as a horror movie but I call it an action adventure movie with a horrific element.

Horror movies classified as horror are often purely fantasy.
Any film that deals with religious over-tones strike me as fantasy.
According to most of those 'possession' type films, the devil or demon is all powerful till the priest beats it. Hilarious.
Faith is always tested and wins.

I love monster movies!
Most monster movies are listed as horror but I find them interesting because I like checking out the different monster designs. To me, monster movies are fantasy.
Likewise for animal attack movies.

Some disaster movies are listed as horror but to me, they are fantasy because either the disaster is unlikely or the reaction of the characters is unlikely for those circumstances.

So, no top ten list from me.
How about a top 500?

I like monster movies to like Godzilla Reboot, Skull Island, Creature From The Black Lagoon, and American Werewolf in London....What about a movie that doesnt get much recognition " Marathon Man" i thought that movie was twice a good with the classic line from Lawrence Olivier " Is It Safe"......
Another underrated movie i thought was killer the Michael Cain horror Dress To Kill that gorgeous Angie Dickerson which i had a crush on because of this movie wad great to me. I think the first slasher movie ever made was Black Christmas. It birth Friday The 13th and many others afterwards.

Yeah, I've enjoyed quite a few one-up horror films that were just flat outstanding. Great acting, great story, great props, lighting, foley and ambience.
I sway towards science fiction and fantasy myself but there are more than a few worthy horror films to see. Not all of them are this century but there are some pretty good well-made films recently as well.

Dog Soldiers (2002) is an example of a very well-made werewolf film on a micro-budget. Its intense to watch.

Primal Rage (2018) was pretty good for a sasquatch/bigfoot movie.
Most bigfoot movies just suck but this was watchable. If someone were asking me for a bigfoot horror movie I used to recommend the original Legend of Boggy Creek (1972) but its pretty dated. Now I recommend Primal Rage and so far people have agreed.

Then you have people that will argue and favor the original and hate the remake/reboots automatically.
I've seen quite a few remakes/reboots/reimaginings that are far superior to the originals.
One such film is The Evil Dead (1981) and Evil Dead (2013). I'm glad they made it like they did. Its a better film in my opinion.

I liked Downrange (2018). A simple POV sniper film from the victims perspective. No elaborate sets, very effective special effects.

Netflix films is making some very well-made movies as well.
Tau (2018) about a woman abducted for an experiment and imprisoned by a smart house.
Spectral (2016) about a combat mission against "ghosts" that kill with a touch.
Gerald’s Game (2017) about a kinky sex game that goes seriously bad.

I have no love for Syfy originals but there are a few decent ones if you can get past the acting, bad SFX and stupid concepts.
House of Bones (2010) comes to mind immediately.
The Bone Snatcher (2003), Cube 2: Hypercube (2002) and Living Hell (2008) come to mind.

Some one-ups you might not know about that I found good:
Still Born (2017)
The Belko Experiment (2016)
IT (2017) (the other IT was a miniseries)
Wish Upon (2017)
Better Watch Out (2016)
Amityville: The Awakening (2017) Not a one-up but still a really good movie.
Train to Busan (2016) ~ subs but outstanding zombie movie
Everly (2014) mostly an action film but lots and lots of horrific, sadistic killing, oh and its set during Christmas time.
Kidnap (2017)
The Devil's Candy (2015)
The Bye Bye Man (2017)
Split (2016)
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)
The Monster (2016)
All Through the House (2016)
Daylight's End (2016)
Jennifer Eight (1992)
Urge (2016)
Panic at Rock Island (2011)
Dead Man's Hand (2007)
Street Trash (1987) really weird movie...freaky and strange
Scar (2007)
Bite (2015)
Man VS (2016)
Rosemary's Baby (1968)
A Serbian Film (2010) ~ subs WOW! Extreme
Dard Divorce (2007)
Let Us Prey (2014)
Krampus (2015)
Southbound (2015)
Shadow Puppets (2007)
Primeval (2007)
Sorority Row (2009)
Top of the Food Chain (1999) freakin funny!
The Last Witch Hunter (2015)
The Wisdom of Crocodiles (1998)
Laid To Rest 1 (2009) not a stand-alone film but still worth watching
The Thompsons (2012)
The Aggression Scale (2012)
Unnatural (2015)
Blood Punch (2013)
The Hallow (2015)
Bone Tomahawk (2015)
Howl (2015)
Re-Kill (2015)
The Diabolical (2015)
