"We will no longer allow you to sit back while people continue to die," Trevon Bosley, a MFOL board member, said in a statement. Speaking to protesters in Washington DC, one of the survivors of the Parkland shooting, David Hogg, said the killings of children in Uvalde "should fill us with rage and demands for change, not endless debate, but demands for change, now." Garnell Whitfield, whose 86-year-old mother was killed in the racially-motivated shooting in Buffalo, New York on 14 May, told crowds in Washington: "We are here to demand justice. "We are here to stand with those who are bold enough to demand sensible gun legislation." Among other policies, MFOL has called for an assault weapons ban, universal background checks for those trying to purchase guns and a national licensing system, which would register gun owners. Rallies are being held in cities including Washington, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Just banning a type of gun or raising the age of ownership will do nothing to stop someone that is hell bent killing innocent children. There IS a reason these lunatics go to schools or malls . These places are ‘ gun free’

These places are ‘ gun free’ The argument for self-locking doors only opening from the inside is not realistic. There are all kinds of school designs. Not all schools are contained in one big building. Some schools are housed in multiple buildings. Many schools are overcrowded and have individual portable classrooms that are separate from the main building. Many older schools have classrooms that only open to the outside. Furthermore, even in those schools that are all contained in one big building, what about windows? Are we next going to say that there should be no windows allowed in schools? And what about when kids go outside to the playground for recess? What about drop-off time before school or pick-up time after school? I can't imagine that anyone who is actually involved in education would think this was a feasible solution. A child's right to a good (and safe) education trumps anyone's right to own a semiautomatic assault weapon.

These places are ‘ gun free’ I guess you’ve never been 12 and in a room with all your dead classmates and smearing yourself in your best friends blood and playing dead to try to stay alive. Just try to imagine being that child and living with that horror for the rest of your life. The trauma you will carry every day. And then imagine a person who, even after knowing what this child went through, still can’t understand why we can’t have a semi-automatic AR15 that shot 5.56 gauge bullets, that in some cases, decapitated her classmates. Explain to her how an 18yo was able to walk into a store and purchase 2 AR15’s and 375 rounds of ammunition without so much as a blink of the eye. Explain to her how some people don’t see a problem with that, or think locking schools down like a prison is the solution. Just lock everything why you’re at it, the grocery stores, the theaters, the churches, lock it all down in this land of the free! I don’t care about whatever your stupid solutions are other than banning them, and I doubt anyone that ever survives such as tragic, horrific event, would either.

To ban all semi-automatic weapons is basically banning all guns except pump shotguns and muzzle loaders with the exception of a few bolt action rifles .This is a really stupid idea coming from people that haven’t got a clue about guns and ammo. America will Never give up their tools of defense and protection. Because of our ability to possess weapons is why we are a free independent country. There will always be evil people trying to commit violent acts weather it’s with a gun a knive a bomb a car. So instead of banning everything that can be used as a weapon let’s finally wise up and secure our schools like a military base, or mint or other entities that are under government security. Or are the democrats unwilling to do what is actually needed so they can keep ramping up their rhetoric against gun ownership supporters every time something like this happens.

Nowhere did I say mass shootings would end. I said get rid of AKs, there's no need for them. Could someone still use a hunting rifle, pistol or even knife, ofc, they just won't be able to kill so many so fast. So answer my question, why do YOU need a AK? You don't, no matter what excuse you come up with. Home protection for one thing, they are accurate and easy to use. Even though I don’t own one I have nothing against them or any inanimate object they are only a tool. But I do have a problem with rights being taken away from law abiding citizens just because one small group of people think they know better.

Schlage Lock co. has been making a door latch for years called "Classroom" lock for years. With a latch shield, no one can get it open. Detex, Von Duprin, Medico, Sargent have all made crash bars that can't be defeated from the outside. All of those are designed in such a way that it takes a special wrench to defeat the panic bar. From the inside. What is needed? People that are able to close doors. Or even a door closer that's mounted to the top of the door. All fire doors are equipped to do so. I know, because I have installed these systems in schools. Schools need exterior doors locked, equipped with panic bars. All school doors open out, thats fire code. They need armed security with metal detectors at the front doors. And Maglocks, that can only be opened by someone inside. Local School boards can do that, in order to keep kids safe. I'll go one step further. Uvaldi would have been one idiot running about the halls, had the teachers shut the classroom doors. It wouldn't even have hit the national news. It's all the things that can be done NOW, without a bunch of peabrained politicians running about trying to take guns away from everyone.

If "gun control" laws worked Mexico would be a pretty safe country. Mexico has extremely restrictive laws regarding gun possession. There is only one gun store in the entire country, and it takes months of paperwork to have a chance at purchasing one legally. A total of 34,582 cases of homicide occurred in Mexico in 2019, up from 33,369 the year before. In 2020 there were 34,515 homicides. The population in Mexico in 2020 was 128,932,753. In 2020, there were 21,570 reported cases of murder or non-negligent manslaughter in the United States. The population of U.S. in 2020 was 331,002,651. Numbers don't lie......and from data it's obvious that restrictive laws doesn't stop murders in Mexico or the US cities with the most restrictive laws. Criminals commit crimes, whether it's car jacking, theft or murders because they IGNORE laws.

But the culture of wokeness , ( which most liberal democrats praise ) has prevented the red flag laws from working. Since the liberal democrats have convinced the criminal is really the victim and the cops are the criminals these violent acts have increased . And until we look at serious ways to stop these shootings from happening they will continue. Sounds like some people would be content with only a couple deaths instead of many as long as we banned the horrible AR 15. You do know that the AR doesn’t stand for assault rifle. …
