I'm in a crapload of pain because my tonsils are swollen. I've tried Icecream and hot tea to help with the swelling, but it didn't work. I wet to a doctor and he gave me RXantibiotics, but they never work for me. I think i built up an immunity to them. Does anyone know any all natural remdies i could try to get the swelling down, and maybe clean my system while i'm at it?

Cause this has happened before, and they swelled to the point where i couldn't swallow and they had to drain my tonsils and give me a trache tube...

I really don't want that to happen again.

Try gargling salt water. Mine swell like that due to allergies of pollen and such.flowerforyou

Sounds like you need them taken out.

listerene (??) perhaps you need a stronger antibiotic..and if its really that bad you need a tonsilectomy...
hope that helps.. even warm salt water gargles

you can try remedies but in this case the only thing that could possible help is antiodics. so, i guess you should consult your physician.

If you haven't been on levaquin ask about that, it kills anything. If you have, i don't know what others to tell you about, keflex maybe?

Amoxicilin Clavinate and devroxin? (I unno if the second one is right.) But i know i've taken them both before and neither of them helped at all. Is a tonsilectomy painful post-surgery?

The older you are yes, but just for a few days. Problem solved once they are gone though.

Ask for levaquin or keflex, they fight against cephalosporins which are causing your problem. Are you allergic to anything?

Erk...

I hate surgery...

But i guess if that means it'll never happen again.

It's wierd though, cause last time i had them drained and junk, i didn;t have any jaw pain pre-procedure. Right now i feel like my jaw muscles have been working way too hard, or are way too tight. I have to open my mouth as far as i can every ten minute or so to keep them from locking up.

Could i be developing TMJ from the Tonsil infection?

No i'm not...

Well, the infection can spread, lot's of lymph tissue in the ear nose and throat area, so it's possible.

I would ask for one more round of antibiotics, try levaquin or keflex and maybe a steroid(anti inflammatory) to shrink the tissue.

I really think Climdamycin might be better since it is tissue infection... keflex and bactrim are not ideal anymore since lots of people are now resistant.

I would really recomend you go to a specialist.. not just your family/internal doctor...

go to an otolaryngologist...Ear nose and throat!
