No more then you can argue that drug use often does lead to abuse...
You seem to be a suscriber to the philosophy that it is a moral and fiber type issue. Which is the typical stance of someone who has never had the experience of substance use, or the practicing user who is feeling a bit bullet proof and in some denial about some consequences they are experiencing.

i'd say it's not as black and white as you paint it. i've tried some, but i've steadily used few. i was always aware of what i was doing and how my habits were. i am in control of myself and would never allow a trip down that road.

i'm far from bullet proof, i'm stared at my mortality on quite a few occasions.

Regardless... Let me leave you with some food for thought.
I could often be found saying something along those lines when I was your age. I also would have wholeheartedly agreed with the notion that addiction was out of stupidity and lack of will power.

A handful of years later.... I was in a hospital fighting for my life due to alcoholism.

In other words... Humility can be a life threatening lesson to learn. I do hope you are not on that path. I was fortunate and survived, where many I know have not.

Whether you believe in God or not.. The wisdom of these words either touch you or they do not.
'There go I, but for the Grace of God....'
